Wednesday Nite Meet: September 28

I know this is more than the 6 hours' warning we usually get for a Weds nite meet. However, Geoff "Stoly" will be up here on the 28th, having just dropped Scrat off at TDR for tuning and misc tying up of loose ends. He planned to come up specifically on a Wednesday so that he can chill with the DFW folks and meet as many as he can.

Let's not disappoint.

Location? Personally - I really miss Fillmore's nice little parking area and good selection of beer. It's not so far north that the south-enders should be offended and it's not so far south that those of us in Southern Oklahoma...er...Frisco would rather just stay at home. I suppose, however, it is a bit far East for the west-enders....maybe?

What does everyone else fancy?

I am in, regardless of location. Wish my car was done to show off, but I guess I will have to live with the LE yet again. Unless Rogue can pull off a miracle and deliver my car tomorrow... What do you think Stevan? :D

Tomorrow is the 7th Titus.

Crap. I will on a beach in Hawaii on the 28th. And I REALLY wanted to go to see Steve's car!

Advance notice is great. Titus having to downgrade to the LE what a disgrace. He should feel lucky that BJ lets him drive it ;-) I've followed Stoly's build on CR I would like to see it in person. I guess Titus could just go by TDR to see it since he'll be solo in Hawaii. Lucky.

Yeah, I guess I need to give the LE more credit. It is looking much better since I added the NB cloth top, red cloth seat covers, R-pack front lip, and re-did the leather on the OEM steering wheel. It could use a visit to the PDR man, and I need to get a new BBS cap for the one I lost, but it is still pretty nice.

I suspect I will be on a plane before Scrat arrives at TDR, but if it is still here when I get back, you can bet I will go see it.

We are going to have Scrat for a little while. How long are you going to be gone Titus?

I'll be back on 10/5.

They are the burgundy color (although it is still more cherry red than the rest of the interior). The color bothered me for an hour then I got over it. The entire bottom of the seat and the front surface of the seat back is red, but he would only do the back half in black. Again, it bothered me for a bit but I am over it. For less than $100 shipped, I like them.

Stoly,

I just took a quick glance at your build thread. Impressive and expensive! If you want to get Scrat in our shop with out scraping that fancy-shmancey nose and lip, you will need to raise your car up. I'd recommend 12 3/8" from wheel center to lip in front and 12 1/2 rear.

BR - I'll be leaving the front and rear bumpers, lip, and GV lights here while you guys are working on Scrat which should make things easier. Looking forward to getting there!

EDIT: I'll work on getting the car raised up some as well; however the passenger side A-Arm had bloodied all my knuckles twice as God failed to endow me with the muscles required to loosen it in order to get the coilover raised on that side...

Am I not looking hard enough, or is there really no all black option? For $80/pair that would be awfully tempting, but can't say I'm the least bit interested in throwing more colors at my car.

Solid burgundy wasn't on the site when I ordered mine... I just emailed him and explained exactly what I wanted and he said no problem. He makes them to order, so it took about a month to get them.

One last question - are they seat covers or seat skins? Covers being they go over the factory seat material; skins being the factory cloth/leather/whathaveyou needs to be removed? I'm hoping the latter, but assuming the former.

Covers, 1 piece, with about 8 claw hooks, including 2 that go between the seat and gap to keep the covers down on the seat. They have been on for over a month and are holding up well and staying in place. If a Mod wants to pull all these seat cover posts out and in to a new thread, I will snap some pictures.

T minus two weeks bump. Looking forward to meeting some new people on the 28th!

I need to circle back with josh and see what he thinks would be a good plan. Once he and I have collaborated I'll post up here.

Bringing some fort worth guys out for this!

Update: We're going to be piggybacking on to a meet that's happening in Garland at the intersection of Jupiter and Beltline (northeast corner). 8pm-ish. This is a standing meet that several Miata peeps attend regularly. Geoff is well acquainted with some of them so we're bringing the party out that way. Hope to see you there!

There is a shopping center with a large, mostly uninhabited parking lot perfect for car meets :)

LOL... there's a parking lot at Northwest Highway and Abrams that's perfect for car meets, but they serve cheap burgers and cold beer... ;)

It just depends on what they are working on that night, but most of the time it flows pretty well by then.

Looks like we'll be adding one more to the Wolf Pack on Wednesday... nannerpus (CR.net SN) will be in the DFW area for work and just happens to be free on Wednesday night to come meet everyone as well.
