The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is having their fifth autocross of the season at the Texas Motor Speedway Bus Lot on Sunday, 7/8.

I am in need of a person to help with course setup. It's a one-time gig. You would have to arrive at 6 AM, but you will be done with your work in the morning. You will not have to perform another work assignment during the event.
The kid carts will mark the cones, but we will need to lay out the course, flour the course, setup the avenues between course/grid/paddock, and setup the work stations.

In other news...I heard there was an announcement about the location of the next event today?
6th of 6 in STR today, but it's still fun, even with a knife in the gun fight. Congratulations to all the drivers that ran today, not just the winners.
Congrats to OZMDD for achieving "Alien" status. Now the rest of have to worry about that whole anal probing stuff. Actually, it's always kinda been a concern with Mike around, just now moreso. Nice job!

Definitely a very fun event. Congrats to Mike. Sucks the course conditions changed so much. Looks like last heat will now be the best heat for TMS.
It has been since the construction started. Look at the results from previous events. Top pax position are usually from the last heat. At the PCA event I was 2 seconds quicker from AM to PM sessions.Quote:

There was an announcement that the Aug 19th event is going to be held at Dallas Raceway instead of PMS. Big concrete playground.
The TMS conditions seem to be all about cleaning off the dust that washes under the retaining wall when it rains. Maybe TMS could be asked about requesting that TXDOT install some of those "catch socks" along the base of the wall to keep the soil on the other side. They are pretty standard stuff in urban construction sites.
In defense of the set-up grunts, that dust is very fine and gets embedded in any crack/opening/fissure in the pavement. The blower will not get 99.9% of it. We would have to pressure wash prior to every event to clean it any better.Quote:

I will say this - the surface at TMS does tend to favor street tires. I imagine this will be reversed at the new site, which is concrete.

Overall the current condition of TMS does favor street tires. I think it related to the small amount of dirt that builds up on the Hoosiers until the grip lets go. With the street tires you have a void that channels the dirt out, almost like water. In some of the turns the front end washes out like it does when the car on standing water.Quote:

The S2000 excels on higher speed courses where it can stay in the powerband. It's an inch narrower, 250 pounds lighter, and makes roughly the same mid-range torque.
