Lone Star Chapter BMW Autocross #6 - Saturday, August 10th, 2013 TMS Bus Lot

Registration is now open for the 2013 LSC BMWCCA AX #6 Saturday, August 10th, 2013. Registration is capped at 65!!

Even if you've never autocrossed before, come on out at give it a try. Instructors are provided for novices, and people wanting to try the sport.

More information can be found on the LSC BMWCCA website http://www.lscbmwcca.org/autocross-schedule.html, and if you want to drive in the event you must register.

Cost is $45.00 for BMWCCA members.

IMPORTANT: There are no free events given at TMS for new BMW Members.

Registration for 2013 events will be 100% online. We will not accept payment on site! Online registration is available until 9PM the Friday before each event.

Tech Inspection: All participant vehicles must pass Tech Inspection on site.

Tech Inspection begins at 7:30am and will close at 8:30am.

Mandatory Driver's meeting at 8:30am.

First car will start around 9:00am.

We will have 5 runs in the morning heat, and 5 runs in the afternoon heat. 10 total runs per driver!

Rides in instructor vehicles are free. A helmet must be worn. There are a limited number of loaner helmets available for those that do not own their own helmet. (Helmets must be rated M-2005 or SA-2005 or newer)

Since only 28 people have signed up so far. Do you think they might waive that requirement?

It's a tax issue because of the way BMWCCA is setup - they're only allowed to collect money from members

You could always find a member to sign you up and pay for you, then pay them back (just spit-balling, not sure if that would fly - might want to check with the autocross chair, http://lscbmwcca.org/membership-info...nd-volunteers/)

Or just sign up, it's like $45 a year and you get a club magazine, stupid decent membership rewards rebates on new and used BMW purchases if you've been a member for a year as well

The requirement is by BMW CCA. But it reads that 85% must come from club members. I think it should be ok to sign up for no more than 3 events a year if you are not a member. wink, wink. BTW I don't think DLB can validate a real number from one you make up.

Well done, Ken! Glad I decided to attend at the last minute last night. That was one of the most fun-yet-challenging courses I've driven in a while. Amazingly tricky to drive a course of sweepers and 180s, with no straights to speak of. Sure is fun to do, though. I think you're going to have to design a few more courses every year. Great to have a different rhythm/feel in the design. Congrats to Ryan M for learning fast in a new car. You've got some talent.

Impressive grip in quite a few places, especially for the Bus Lot.

Thanks Mike, and thanks again for the codrive. That's one hell of a car. I was a fan of the course as well, I liked the loop and how it took advantage of the limited space at Tms.

Another "atta boy" on today's course. Fun, challenging, good flow, good speed. I really enjoyed it. Congrats as well in FTD. The Bimmer was really hooked up today.

Awesome course today; it was challenging to get right, not sure I ever got it right.

Ken O, great driving today! Now if we had only had this years tire setup instead of running last years we would have had you ;)

I agree, cool course today. I saw some great driving out there today, actually made working a corner in the heat pretty bearable. Here's my best run, 58.945

This is why we need more people to design courses -- something different. If anyone is ever interested, then speak up. There is plenty of help for you. Just get your basic design down first.

Good job on the course design Ken. That was a really fun course with nice high speed sweepers on a lot that's not that big. It flowed very well. Fun day except a little warm.

Funny how perception of speed changes with flow; I brushed my revlimiter for a split second in one place on the course, and FTD was nearly a minute, yet the universal description of the course was "really fast." Not an easy or wide-open course either.

Wow, I just noticed that Sam and Jim were separated by .001 seconds. Over a 1 minute course, that's pretty dang close. Looks like someone forgot to take all the loose change out of their center console! :D
