Dammit. Need a new radiator in the CRX... won't have time to fix it before Saturday, but I'm all in for the next event.
I'm down if anyone needs a co-driver.
Spec Rental Cobalt series, anyone?
How is a radiator holding you up? Aren't they like $50? I'll come up and change it for you this week. Get your ass out there!
I would love to to this, but can't this weekend. Count me in next time.
What kind of ground clearance do you need for rallycross?
Ill see if I can get it done by Friday.
So big ruts don't form at tight corners?
Typically not. Its more of a drifto type of 180 setup. Not mud trucks.
Gotta say that the event today was pretty outstanding. Weather treated us well, the site was phenomenal, and rallyx is truly a seat-of-the-pants hoonfest. The dust was annoying !ate in the day, and those Austin/San Marcos hippie-types take a pretty leisurely pace on everything (90 min lunch!), but the fun factor was extremely high.
There were two dips on the course, but plenty of low street vehicles (stock 2010 civic si, lowered 10ae NB, etc) ran with no issues of bumper or undercarriage damage, and the site was not at all prone to rutting. A quick spray down to settle the dust at midday would handle that easily, much like gravel blowers at autox. The classic Mini had its suspension raised a bit and was on autox tires, while most of the Modified class was on true rally tires, but we still finished 2/3 of 6! Its definitely true that car prep has very little to do with rally x success, at least at this level.
Hope to have some video up soon. If you are even slightly considering trying this, you will love it. Cheap, low impact, loads of fun, and autox/track skills will make you look like a stud!
Anyone with video from yesterday's event? Like to see it.
You guys aren't getting the concept of discretion are you ;)
