TCB? Bring some nylon rope. We'll tie you in.
Wouldn't TCB be a roll of duct tape?Quote:

G-force seems to have some pretty inexpensive harnesses. But also check ebay for some good used TCB deals.
Yes I did. Hard Dog M2 Sport (no diagonals). Will Jean be my co-pilot? Maybe we could share the belt! :razz:Quote:

Definitely get a sub-belt (5/6-point harness) if you plan to do track days with the car. A 4-point belt can ride up in an impact, allowing you to submarine under the belts and fold yourself up in the footwell. Not pretty. The sub belt doesn't actually interfere with "the boys", nor should you encounter it in an impact - it merely prevents the lap belt from riding up, allowing it to stay in place and absorb your forward momentum across your hips.
I'm also a big fan of 3" belts versus 2" belts. In an impact - or even in high G manuvers, for that matter - what you'll actually feel is the pressure of the belts, which is a function of your mass times acceleration distributed over (divided by) the contact area of the belts. More belt area (3" wide versus 2" wide) means less pressure for the same amount of force.
Non-technical summary of the preceding paragraph: Wider belts are more comfortable when driving, so go with the widest belts you can find, Typically 3" belts.
When it comes to manufacturers, I like Sparco, because you can buy their belts piecemeal - you can buy the lap belts, shoulder belts, and sub belts separately, which gives you more options and flexibility. I also like TeamTech - some of the most comfortable harnesses I've ever used - but they're pricey.
One last suggestion - avoid a "Y-style" shoulder belt. You want either separate shoulder belts, or an "H-style" belt.
Just make sure the ones you are bidding on are not expired, or about to expire.Quote:

Unless you're running SPEC (or the like) where dated belts are mandatory, I wouldn't worry about it. Just be sure to check the integrity of the belt's webbing and hardware. Of course, this is just my opinion...
I have had the belts in my car looked at for an SCCA Autocross Tech. YMMVQuote:

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm now looking for a camlock, 5 pt., 3" wide harness. I know it will 'clip' into the harness tab on the rollbar, but what about the lap and anti-sub belts? How will those be attached?
I'm going to call Bobby Archers and see what they have.
I bought my belt at Bobby Archers. It was a new belt that had just never sold and had already past its expiration date. I picked it up relatively cheap.
I forgot to add... it's a RPM 5pt. harness with 3 inch wide belts.
The anti-sub goes through my floorboard. For you sammmy, I might suggest a 6 pt belt so that you don't have to make holes in your floorboard.
Archers also sells the eye bolts. The threads are universal for harness and seatbelt stuff. I drilled a hole in the floorboard for my 5th point, and also for the right side of the harness. I just replaced the bolt for the stock seatbelt with an eyebolt on the left side. That way I can clip and unclip everything. Archers sells the bolts, and it comes with the backing plate too. Since the seat belt attatches to the seat on the 99, you have to drill into the side of the tranny tunnel.
Anyone else in the market for a harness? We could split this for $52 each.

You see this blurb in the description. :confused:Quote:

Yeah... Safety equipment may be one place where you don't want to show your TCB colors.Quote:

Yes, since they never meet any safety standard they we just made to look pretty,Quote:

Just my .02...
Don't scrimp on safety equipment. Granted, since you'd use your standard belt for daily driving and would only be using the belts in question on the autocross course, chances are virtually nil that you'll have an opporunity to "use" them for real.
OTOH, why not go ahead and get something that you know is going to work. Maybe you'll do a track day?
Chuck
You may want to search out R.J.S. this is who made my lap belt, and knowing me it was Team CB priced when I got it!
**Note the SFI tag on the belt**

yeah, you shold probably go ahead and get a good harness. Did you see that post about the STI that crashed?

RPM makes a good belt as well...

Just called them. The guy told me they send 'expired' harnesses back and have them re-done. The cheapest 5-point camlock he has there (Team Tech) is $258. (SFI good for 2 years)Quote:

They always tell me like 3 days and stuff shows up in 2 by DHL. BTW, free shipping on the camlocks.
What extra hardware will I need to mount a 5 pt. harness in my NB? Majik?
That must be something new... when I bought mine last year the fella that sold them to me said they'd had the belts for awhile and just never sold.Quote:
