Well it's that time again, time for another SCCA Autocross! This time we get a change of venue and get to got to the TMS Bus Lot! 8)

I suppose Ill be there. That is also the day of the Alliance airshow, I wanted to go to that saturday. Now I guess we will have to catch what we can from TMS. Mcdonalds at 7? I cant remember the exit.

The bus lot is slicker than owl snot, and about as much fun to drive on. I think I'll spend that day with my wife instead.

Bah, atleast you can get a half-way decent course on the lot. In addition, the lower grip helps preserves tires, AND, you get to practice car control on a slick surface.

True, it is slick, but I like it....I wish I was attending, Our AC went out yesterday at our house, so you know where my money is going :(

I'll do it on-line but closer to the cutoff for the event, I just need a little more time to convince myself I want to go! ;)

If I wanted to preserve my race tires, I'd leave them bagged in my garage. :razz:

I like Mineral Wells. I don't find it to be that hard on tires - I get 90+ runs out of a set of V710s, with the majority of those runs coming at Mineral Wells, on longer (80+ second), high-speed courses. The bus lot might be a decent size, but I just don't like the surface. Besides, it's forecast to rain on Sunday. If the bus lot sucks in the dry, it really sucks in the wet... unless you own an underpowered awd econocar. :wink:

Nah - I'd just rather get eight long runs on Saturday with the S2k club at Mineral Wells than four short runs on the bus lot with SCCA, and I've only got one day to play this weekend. :wink:

Not to be a :cat: but the weather is looking pretty bad. I dont know about autoXing in a tropical storm. We have around 50% chance of TS speed winds on Sunday. That doesnt sound like fun.

If you have never driven on the bus lot when it was wet, you should give it a whirl. It is the slipperiest thing this side of ice- amazingly slick.

The Event Has Been Canceled

Due to the concerns of weather it has been rescheduled to October 16th at the bus lot. It would have been real expensive to rent the site and not have a good turn out not to mention unknown weather issues.

Not sure how this will work for the online registration system but give them a chance to make some changes.

October 16th is the date the event has been moved to. The following weekend October 27th, is also at the bus lot.

The International Airshow scheduled for this weekend at Alliance Airport in Fort Worth has been canceled due to severe weather expected in North Texas from Hurricane Rita, a press release on the airport's Web site said.
Airshow officials said the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds notified them that they were ordered to fly all planes and crew out of Fort Worth Friday morning.
The airshow will not be rescheduled this year.
The cancellation is the first in the show's 17-year history.
