265 Rwhp Msm!?

LiNKiE.

Flyin' Miata claims 265 RWHP from an MSM with only four mods:

1. Hydra ECU
2. FM downpipe
3. FM exhaust
4. FM intercooler

That's a huge gain (115 rwhp) from $3,100 in parts. Can't say I'm not tempted, but if you upgrade to that kind of firepower, you're also looking at bigger tires, stiffer shocks, etc. Then where does the madness end and how does your car "feel" when you're finished? :shock: It feels fast!

PS: I know: FM's dynos are optimistic. But on the SAME DYNO this car saw a 115 rwhp gain. Maybe the 265 is high, but it ain't that high.

good numbers indeed... but you're missing one *minor* detail there, that car is no longer runing the stock turbo, but rather an upgraded one with a larger compressor wheel..

I also think that along with the hydra were bigger injectors, but I'm not 100% on that.

FWIW, theyr'e saying the turbo upgrade will only be about $500...

Setup on the car: FM downpipe and exhaust, modified IHI turbo, 550 cc injectors, hydra ecu, big filter temporarily stuffed on turbo inlet, FM intercooler.

I have the FM DP.. It's definately a noticeable improvement...

Biggest gain is going to be seen in some sorta Programming improvement.. Keep your eyes on teh vishnu stuff... they're getting 180 with stock hardware... 200+ with and added intake and injectors.

Town north is doing 4k +$1k off new MSMs now.. So ~21k if you go with their financing...

Or used ones are starting to show up as well...

Theres a 2004 MSM with 6000 miles in my garage tonight, and an NA. Both red. Oh, and a turbo celica. Something will probably have to give at some point, but I have 5 parking places and 3 cars so I'm not there yet.

Wow... I just noticed that of 8 2004 Miatas with-in 50 miles of me on Autotrader, 6 are MSMs. Anyone know what the production numbers are for 2004 and 2005 MSMs vs non-MSMs? I couldn't find it in :batman: land.

I don't know, but I'd guess that the vast majority of '04 & '05 Miatas sold in the US were MSMs.

Man, all this MSM love is making me wish I had room for another car in my garage. I wouldn't get rid of my '99 Sport, but it would be fun to have an MSM to play with as well.

I actualy bought it at Park Place Porsche. I saw it on ebay and autotrader and it was close to work, so I stopped to look and ended up buying it. Everybody there was great to work with and I highly recommend them if you ever want to buy a porsche or mercedes. They have a few nice used cars from time to time as well.

Those additions would make the car just exactly as the factory *should* have sent it from the factory... 200rwhp, reliable, still passes TX OBDII inspection.
