We are shooting my episode of Motorsport Ranch Next week Tuesday November 22nd. The shooting begins at 12:30pm at MSR. If anyone wants to come out and cheer me on or do a little wrenching, you are welcome to join in. There may be a celebrity appearance by somebody from Flyin' Miata.

I am using Victoracer V700s 205/55/14
I use fairly tame alignment settings -1.5 degrees camber front and rear. I drive the car as daily driver too.
I used the same tire when I ran Showroom Stock. Perfect wheel/tire combination for early Miatas. I would add some more camber up front, if you're serious about coming out on top at the Ranch. Of course, with the boost, it's much easier to "compensate" by rotating the car with power :) What kind of lap times can you run at the Ranch?Quote:

My last autocross this season is Sunday the 20th. I should have 4-6 205/50-15 V710s left over, which ought to be good for at least half a second a lap over the V700s/Victoracers at MSR. You're welcome to use them, along with the OEM 15" wheels they're mounted on, in exchange for running a set of DFWMiata.com magnets (I have a set you can borrow) on your car and mentioning this site in the segment. :wink:
Just beware - I don't care about the tires, but if you bend the wheels, you bought 'em. :mrgreen:
Unfortunately, I'm under the gun with upcoming prototypes at work, so I can't take any time off next week. You'd have to come and pick them up Sunday or Monday night if you want 'em.

Do you need me to get together with you before Tues? I have a Civic hatch I can load up with parts, tools, tires, or I can just bring the miata and have next to nothing with me. Up to you.....

(2) Corvettes. I won't mention the driver's names, but I smell a rat. One driver said his lap times were 1:45. That seems a little high for MSR. If we really are as competitve as the producers think,I hope those widebodies let the miata pass.
You never said what your lap times are at MSR?
Can you give us a idea?
I am guessing 1:34 Gary has me at about 1:31.
After FM retunes the car and we boost to 15 lbs, I think we might have a shot if I dont blow a intercooler connector hose clamp.
Don't go there!!!! Maybe if you are playing on the street. At the track, better keep at about 10 PSI if you want to drive it home. You don't need much more on this track plus it only generates more heat, a problem you already got. Work on the suspension more as that is where you are going to get your track times down.

We are probably going to keep it around 13lbs. The extra boost really helps keep me in the Corvette Mirrors. I can always turn it back down after the race.
I think I have the heat issue solved (for now):
1. It's going to be about 55 - 65 Degrees (VERY NICE!!!)
2. I have new holes in the nose and an extractor in the hood
3. I am running the fans always on
4. We are going to rig up some water spray onto the intercooler and radiator off the washer pump (Secret Weapon).
I am also going to lace the intercooler connectors with hair spray for extra bite.

Better yet, get thee down to your local welding shop and have someone roll or weld a bead around all of your hose ends to better secure those clamps. I agree more boost won't get you much faster lap times.
What's this about FM coming to tune? When? and Where? Is Bill coming or is Jeremy coming? My dad is meeting Bill in Florida on the 30th, is he coming here along the way?

And then back to aggressive street settings after the event.
3. I am installing a set of Hawk Blues and I have already upgraded the brakes to 94+ brakes, SS lines. We will also be flushing the fluids for that firm pedal feel and I have new rotors.
The guys I am racing aginst are even LESS expierenced than me, so I am a little concerned about clipping their line too much. That's something they may not have seen before in regular HPDE events. There is also a certain amount of ego in a vette driver that might not let a Miata get through. My goal here is to...
#1 Survive without incident.
#2 Not look like an idiot.
#3 Win this race.
My number one technique I am going to employ is to get into their mirrors and get them driving in their mirrors. They'll fall off track soon enough.
Even if I do make it to the next round, Verges, Cole and boys will be waiting. In that sandlot, I don't stand a shovel.

I don't think you will have any opportunity to really push each other if they are going to base the show on the last one, I hope they will change the format and or script. Unfortunatley this show is more on the drivers life, like we really care, than the cars. We will get to see you in the kitchen maybe cooking or something, watch you pet your dog while (if you have one) and see the little wifey doing her thing (again if you have one, sorry I don't know but I soon will see). It is more of a reality show of why you do what you do than what WE really want to see and that's competition!!! Samson verses Goliath.
Don't get your hopes up that this is going to be a wheel to wheel shoot out becuase it is not. They will start you three guys based on your handicap times and see who comes out at the last turn across the line. Not real exciting. Seriously, you should have seen the pilot.

There is much more competition with each other for this one. Basic format is 3 cars/racers per episode - 12 episodes. There may be some handicapping based on car qualifications. The winner of each episode moves to the final episode where the 12 qualifying winners race against each other for massive cash and prizes. (I added the massive cash and prizes).
The race shooting starts Monday with a few very good drivers going up against each other KV with a certain Lotus and JC with his Spec Miata are their initials.
If anyone is joining me tomorrow in the Pit crew, I need to hear from you. We are starting the shoot at 12 Noon.

When do you need people there and when do think everything will be done? I'm thinking about taking some vacation time to come out.
We are starting at 12:30 and the group today was done before 4pm. Todays race was EXCELLENT!!! Not giving away the ending, but definitely worth checking out.

We kept the Miata fairly conservative (12 lbs) due to track demands but we were pulling 202 at the rear with no knock. Jeremy likes our 93 octane gas.:D
