So has anyone replaced the bearing on the trailer? I've had mine since 8/2002 figure it's time to refresh the bearings and rear seals, but the limited documentation I got with the trailer isn't helping with any part numbers.
Any thoughts or suggestions??
Would it be easier to replace the axle entirely? It can't be all that expensive...

There used to be a place in Tyler (back in the day) called Cottingham Bearing. Walk in with any bearing from the front wheel of a 55 Chevy wagon to the bearings for a RC dune buggy, and they had them on the shelf.
Surely, somewhere in all the metromess, there is a business like that.

Just an FYI the bearing kits for a 1" axle did not work on my trailer! :( The axle is just under 1".

Went to Purvis Bearing in Fort Worth and they were able to cross the Chinese bearings over to a Timken Brand, only problem is the bearings and seals retail out at $95.00...... ::Shocked:

For the record the Bearings are Timken P/N 30205M the seal I got is a touch thinner than the original so I'll skip that number.
Were your bearing excessively worn or pitted?
Or is this preventative maintenance?

There was some grumbling noise when you spun the right wheel with the trailer lifted off it's wheels which made me check the bearings. There was pitting on the inter race on the right wheel (haven't pulled the left wheel yet) and signs that the inter bearing may have been hot or possibly wet. The rollers in the bearing had discolored slightly.Quote:

Changed out the bearings last night.
Noticed the rear bearing on both wheels showed signs of wear on the races. The other thing that was surprising was how nasty the grease was, looks like the dust seals were not doing much of a job keeping stuff from getting into the rear bearings!
If you haven't re-packed your trailer bearings in a while now may be a good time to do it! ;)
Hey POS, didn't you say somthing about replacing the tires too? Your gonna have a brand new trailer before too long.
