Just wondering if anybody was planning on going? It's going to be at Pennington this month. :D
8 runs and probably some fun runs afterward. Registration (on DLBracing.com) will be capped at 80 drivers.

No more DFW auto-x for me. I'm out of here as of Thursday morning :( Last final is Wednesday and I'm out Thursday.
It was good racing with you guys when I got to :D Good luck to whoever ends up going.
Good to meet you!
Are you graduating or going home for the summer?
Going home for the summer. But I won't be back in the fall becuase I'll be in Austin instead. This is only my second semester of college... I wish I was graduating!
I'm seriously considering going. Thomas, why are you in 'Y' class and not 'Z' ?Quote:

I'm assuming you meant 'X'. If you run R-comps, you get bumped one class up.Quote:

You'll have a good time and there is some good competition in X.
I've had this one as a maybe on my calendar for a while. Wasn't it originally scheduled at Grayson Airport (blackzx3_13's locale)? Oh well, it takes me just as long to get to Pennington.
Yes I did. Thanks for the info.Quote:

I wonder what that site is like?
They had an evolution school there the year before last I think. Not real sure where they were going to set up a course, but there is both asphalt and concrete there.
Long and narrow  with a variety of surface material IIRC. I did Evolution School up there a couple of years ago.Quote:

I usually to the events around 8. Do you want to meet somewhere around 7:30 (McDs or einsteins)?Quote:

If you sign up for a membership tonight, you will have to call to get your number. Even if you don't just put down a bogus number in DLB and explain the situation with Mark Williams.Quote:

Y'all have fun - I'll be painting and turning my office into a guest bedroom. :(
lugnutjon is planning on being there to dial the RX-8 in for the Pro, now that he has the shocks and tires mounted.
Let Jon know that if he's running r-comps on Sat. he needs to edit his registration and move to Z with the big boys.Quote:

DLB Racing shows Stan and Su entered in Z class in the orange BP Corvette.
I don't think the LSBMWCCA guys have ever seen them drive the BP car, only the Mini.
Should be fun to watch.
Didn't notice that! Always fun to watch that car. See you tomorrow morning. :DQuote:

I registered. I would rather get some sleep than McD..:cat:
See you guys there! :burnrubr:
That was fun! 8 runs and I'm already home! We got stuck on the 'small' lot at Pennington (where the motorcycles usually are) and somehow the bimmer boys got 60 seconds out of it. It was very busy with offsets, lots of pivots and a few slaloms. It was a Miata and Mini friendly course for sure!
TC took some great pics and hopefully he'll be posting them soon. Miatamoto looked smooth (and fast) on course. apex2apex brought out his new '94R...very nice ride! SOLOM3 was evil as ever in the Evo laying down a sub 53 while lugnutjon was looking good in his RX-8.
I had a great time. I liked that track! It was great meeting all of you there and I look forward to more events with you guys. I'm gonna try to make it to Laps for Charity tonight at TMS.
I think I came in third in X, but I'm not sure.
Later,
Jerrett
Almost done sorting and labeling... I'll hit the old upload button soon!!!Quote:

The course was super tight today (designed by one of the Mini drivers) and I can't believe they were able to get 60 seconds out of that lot!
I had a lot of fun and it was good to meet jrj512, and Sammm really looked like he was scootin' out there (most likely for the X class win). Good job out there today guys, and a big thanks to Apex2Apex for validating that I don't need to go to a manual steering rack, your car was a ton of fun to drive. SOLO2M3 was indeed smokin, wish I could had asked for a ride along, that would have been a hoot!
Tailchaser, awesome pictures! Thanks for posting them. BTW, would it be OK to share your photo link with the BMWCCA forum or do you not want that much traffic on your site?
By all means share it. That's what they're there for. BTW... Is this the new guy?Quote:

What a great day to do autocross, I had load of funs. :burnrubr:
Sammmm put on a good show in class X.
It was nice meeting you jrj512, you put out good times on those ze512s!
Thanks miatamoto for letting me drive your car, talk about lighting quick reflexes. I hope you got a good workout out of the 2 runs in my R.. ;)
Thanks tailchaser for the awesome pics, now I have my first picture of the 94.
Looking forward to autocross the miata again.
Sounds like you guys had fun. TC, what time were you out there? I must have just missed you.
Looked like a tight course. Does anyone have any idea how JOn fared today compared to Jim & Sipe? I'm curious how his car did, since I'll be driving it next weekend.
I was just invisible. I was standing behind the Mini next to the timing van.Quote:

Jon was flyin out there and managed a 54 something on the tight course. He was happy he beat the Miatas on a Miata course. ::Clown::
Oh boy, post #1...
Hello, My name is Mike Valant. I am the crazy MINI driver that managed to design a course that ran nearly 60 seconds on that tiny patch of concrete at Pennington.
I've owned a Miata since last summer, and I just now found out about this forum! Duh. Sorry I missed out until now. The forum looks VERY good, MUCH better than the BMWCCA forum (ahem), and similarly well-maintained as the MetroplexMINI.org forum.
Glad you guys liked the course - I never got out of first gear. I did manage to beat all the highly modified M3's to take my first win this year in a new class (class F, one down from G, which is "unlimited BMW"). It will probably be the only win for me this year (verses 7 wins last year in class E, ouch!).
Anyway, I already thanked Tailchaser (Lauren) via e-mail for capturing the best photos I have seen yet of my MINI at an autocross - GREAT shots.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing some Miatas at the next BMW event!
Welcome to the board. ::Flag::
Welcome to our little bit of madness, Mike! It was impressive watches those Minis get flung around on Saturday!
For our members (like me) that do better with cars than faces or names...
Ha! Looks like those 300# front springs aren't cutting the mustard. Perhaps upping the spring rate (to 500#) with a corresponding rate increase in the rear is the way to go.Quote:
