Nice! Although I'm sure it won't appeal to the grump grumps on this board, I like it. :thumleft:

Careful who you call a grump grump.... This grump grump is thinking that maybe just possibly there may be room for an NC in his garage after all... But I'm still leaning toward a Mallet Solstice.Quote:

cost?
Just give us a ring when they offer a yellow one! ::Banana::
I love the hardtop convertible idea I also think it's awsome that it's optional!
Plus either option on the MX5 is still so much better than the GM Solstice/Sky model of making the top exactly like a 1953 Corvette since there is no way in the world to make one better even after 53 years! (Although the '53 Vette did have a trunk!) Modern design rocks! Bring back drum brakes!

Looks yummy.
Chris
I'd sure like to see a picture of it with the top all the way up.
No official figures, but a British mag estimated 2000 pounds. That translates to about $3700. It makes sence, as the removable hard top is around a $2500 option now.Quote:

Some more specs:
Extra weight will be 36 kg (79.3664144 pounds).
The trunk lid will sit 2cm higher which also requires a slight redesign of the rear fenders.
The luggage space will remain unchanged.
More pics.Quote:

Yep... I don't miss Winning Blue nearly as much now that I see Stormy Metallic Blue! I am sad that they are not offering Marble White with the RHT, but I guess Stormy will do. ;)Quote:

That's hot! I doubt the Mazdaspeed version will use the RHT, though, since it does add a considerable amount of up-high weight.
I'm betting this will sell like hotcakes. It's the first car I've seen that convincingly answers the RHT conundrum of zero trunk space and a fat ::Bum:: (like this Focus RHT)
http://img.lenta.ru/lib/focuscc/picture.jpg
It's also the first NC I've seen that explains why someone might seriously want to upgrade from the NB.

NOW we're talkin'. That's mighty nice!
Ooo that looks sweet! Love the colour too. Also nice that it's the European spec without the trapezoid tacked on front turn signals!:punchout:
It also looks sexy at that ride height. Too bad we know form experience that the real street version will sit some 2" higher! :punchout:
I really wish Mazda would build a true sports car with a little more cojones than the NC. They've got a beautiful chassis, two wonderful powerplants that would fit (the Renesis and the turbo MZR), and the knowledge to build a sports car that is more than just the sum of its parts.
If I were Mazda, instead of blowing my R&D budget on the answer-to-the-question-no-one-was-asking mini-minivan (Mazda5), a 280hp fwd econobox (upcoming Mazdaspeed3), or a 3800-lb wannabe rally car alternative (Mazdaspeed6), I'd be building a sweet little fixed roof 2-seater with some FD styling cues on the NC chassis. Offer it with a turbo MZR or a Renesis at similar price and power levels (much like Subaru offers both a flat six and a turbo flat four Legacy), keep the weight around 2700-2800lbs, offer a version with cloth seats, a limited slip, a/c, and not much else starting around $28k, and watch the world beat a path to my door.
They've got the engines, the chassis, and the know-how to do it right, and based on the pricing of the Mazdaspeed6, the CX7, and the RX-8, they ought to be able to turn a profit with that hardware at that price point. All they need are a pair of big brass ones.
Too bad you still can not get one with the Bilstein/limited slip/5 speed/16" wheels! :(
I love the new RHT, but it is not enough for me to trade by NB! I understand Mazda has to please the general public to sell cars. However, they don't take care of the "core audience", they will become a company w/o a soul! I agree with Altiain that w/o much more investment they can turn out a line of cars that can please most, it not all, of us. Toooooooo bad :(
Has anyone heard if there is more/less/same headroom with the RHT?
Good question. I've sat in the NC and it definitely has more headroom than my NB. In fact, the headroom, top, and side airbags are the ONLY things about the NC that I wish my NB had. ;) Although this RHT might change my mind... :(Quote:

This is something of a myth. The bumper-to-bumper is down to 3/36. I believe the powertrain warranty is actually UP to 5/60.Quote:

What about the package changes for 2007, what changes along with the RHT are in the works??
Turns out to be nothing worth while. They changed the names around to make it apear that they were addressing issues such as autocrossers wanting the 5-speed. They made the touring the sport and the sport the touring, so the sport now has the 5-speed. The problem is, you can't get the suspension package (including LSD) on the sport now, just like you couldn't get it on the 06 touring.Quote:

Resize that! It is a good picture of you though.
I like teh one touch down idea for both windows...
Mine has one touch down for the driver, but not the passenger. Press one, hold teh 2nd switch to lower the top.. Very dumb. Thought about adding a one-touch switch to the passenger too but never got around to it.
Yeah the Stooks have an interesting feature (since it's a power top anyway).. when you lower the top, it automatically lowers both windows for you.
It would be nice if the PRHT button also triggered both windows to go down, but I bet they forgot that one. :rolleyes:Quote:
