Nice to see Keith Starr in the trophies after 1 day in B Mod... 3 locals in the top 5 with Tommy and Stuart on top (big surprise) but only by .3 seconds.
Looks like the Miatas are still doing alright in CSP and STS2. I also noticed that an NC finished better than the NB in Ladies C Stock. It will be interesting to see if that is the same in Mens.

Man, that was a lot of fun. While we didn't bring home any wood, Jon and I both felt we ran relatively well. I had a good day on Wednesday with a top ten time on the transition-intensive east course, but I could never really put anything together on Tuesday on the choppier West course, and had to settle for my one "safe", coneless run. Jon was nine thousandths out of the trophies on day 1, but just couldn't seal the deal with an exceptional run on Wednesday. Oh well, always next year...
A few highlights:
You can make it to Topeka from Plano in six and a half hours. Hell, you can do it in less time that that if you don't spend 20 minutes conversing with one of Topeka's finest. :punchout:
The new surface at Heartland Park isn't half as bad as everybody has been whining about. We didn't have any problems with grip at all. The biggest problem is that the surface isn't sealed, so after a while a lot of super fine sand "marbles" build up outside the line... but I didn't think it was any different than running late in the day at Mineral Wells. You learn to read the surface, and you avoid the marbles.
Jersey is amazing. :wink:
Even at Nationals, you still have to turn off the damn traction control. :punchout:
RX-8s make great long distance drivers, even loaded down with full autocross gear. Oh, and I averaged 21mpg on the way back, which ain't that far off of the 23mpg I used to average hauling the trailer behind the Miata.

It will be at the autocross tomorrow. It will be dirty, it has amazingly noisy brakes (I need to order a set of OEM pads for it ASAP), and it will be covered in vinyl, but it will be fast. :mrgreen: Keith managed to trophy with it again this year, despite coning every single run on Wednesday. He did manage to match Isley's scratch time down to the thousandth though, so I'm going to have to find a more powerful excuse generator. :wink:
One cool thing about B Stock - a 350Z managed to take 2nd place overall, and actually had fastest time overall on the East course. Maybe we'll see a few more of them start to show up.

There's a 240SX leading STS after 1 day... And LOTS of make/model variety
