Miata retiring from daily duties...

in a week and a half :D

If all goes well I'm buying my old Integra back from my brother a week from Wednesday (payday). Which means my Miata will have some much needed downtime.. and which also means I can swap some conveniences for some hardcoreness.

Ya see, since it was my daily driver, I was holding back from major modifications because I wanted to keep it sane and civil. But now that I'll have the Integra as my highway and work cruiser, I can finally cut loose and blow some money on go-fast parts.

I'm just yakking because I'm excited. You can ignore me if you want.

Plans... I'm going to shoot for about 200 rwhp in the Miata after going turbo (due to SC costs) over the rest of the year (bit by bit). Plus try to upgrade the suspension quite a bit. Now that I have the Tein springs installed I'm not beating myself to death on every trip; it'll soon be time for sways and a bit o' bracing. Plus doing my interior conversion and a bunch of little fun stuff.

Step by step... I know.

As for the Integra, I'm keeping it simple. I already ordered an intake to replace the stock (broken) one and I'm looking for cheap side mirrors to replace the broken ones. Change the oil, bleed and adjust the brakes, maybe toss on an aftermarket exhaust (it has a fart can right now... wtf?) that is quiet... It's a great car to cruise the highways in. And it has AC. Which means I can finally pull all the AC stuff out of the Miata. Among other things :D

This wasn't really Miata or OTM tech, so I stuck it here... feel free to move it if need be, mods.

I'm just excited to finally be able to do some more serious stuff to the Miata!!!!

Any thoughts?

I drove MGB's for years, then one day I got a deal on a sweet 87 CRX-SI.
I put 120k on it then upgraded to a 88 SI, then a 91 SI, later a 93 SI Hatch.
(I still have my 87 SI)
Then one day I decided WTF am I doing and bought a Miata. :)

No flames here, there awesome cars, for a daily.

Personally, both Barbara and I prefer Miata daily's now. :p

I'm with Merv on this one. It's amazing what a good driver in a stock Miata can do.

Trust me, I've learned a LOT already (mostly from mistakes). I'm guessing I'm already a 2 driver (scale of 0-10). ;)

Oh hush. He's had the car for only a year and I had it in pretty much mint condition before I got rid of it. As I said in the previous post, he's let it go, but I was just badly ticked when I wrote that last one.. it just needs a lot of TLC. Nothing seriously wrong.

Plus, my brother and I have one of the best relationships of any siblings I know. Neither of us have ever been cheated by the other, we've worked together (and I've worked for him or under him at two different jobs) and so on... so we're pretty trusting. He knows what's wrong with the car and that's why I'm getting a discount :D

Well, he gave me the car early :D

I'm doing one large down payment and then a couple more smaller ones. Should work out fine. We went to Plano and picked up his new Isuzu Rodeo (I think it's a 98 ) which is lime green... it's actually kinda nice. Auto though :(

So we got home and a FedEx truck is coming up the road, I yelled "Hey, wanna bet if that's a package for me?". The truck went by though... and I looked on the front porch and saw the package that I was waiting on :D

So about 15 minutes later I had a brand new intake on the car, replacing the broken stock one which had a ridiculously dirty filter. It sounds lovely ::Daisy::

I also added 3 quarts of oil. Don't ask.

I'm going to replace the headlight bulbs with Silverstars, replace the plug wires, distributor cap, plugs, change the oil (probably to Royal Purple which I have in the Miata), get the clutch adjusted, check the brake system, buy new wheels (stock ugly steelies, maybe even put my Koseis on there if I find better wheels for the Miata), and stick an OEM wing on it to round out the back. Maybe an exhaust too to get rid of the racerboy sound.

Should be interesting :D

EDIT: I think I'm going to help him out with the Rodeo maintenance... I can't stand to see another vehicle go pfft.
