Made it down, and the site is interesting. Very grippy and smooth, consistent surface. Tomorrow's course is "diabolical," to quote Jim H. Gonna be a hoot!

The venue itself is pretty cool, with great spectator areas close to the course. Narrow lot, so its an out-and-back design. They were having Friday Night "run what you brung" drag racing, so a few of us got sucked-in. Piper and another guy raced their F-mods! The NC is not all that fast in a straight line: 14.92 sec 1/4 mile @ 94mph

DavidSS was crazy-fast in STS today; he put almost a full second on the field. Faster than Andy Hollis too.

JFo and Wagner are also leading their respective classes. Good day all-around for TX Region. Now to figure out how to make-up a second on Pedroza...

Some of the craziest stuff is in B Stock. In the tours b stock has been close to straight timing super stock.

Looks like they needed some more competition in ES.

Houston Region went all out and worked their butts off to make a great event. Congrats to them. Especially Clint Williams who was there Thursday thru Sunday, and most especially reset the course at midnight Fri night after the drag races made them take the course up. So everyone was able to walk Sat morning on schedule. Above and Beyond for Clint and his crew!

And Roger the Real for fun courses that gave you plenty of opportunities to mess yourself up.

And to Vorslag for being a primary sponsor. Thanks Terry and Amy.

I'm hyper critical on event admin stuff and have some gripes but I'll go again to an event there.

Grip is more than bus lot but less than MW and wierd. Did a bunch of setup changes and landed on something we've never done before that finally worked great on Sunday if the nut behind the wheel had delivered.

DavidSS kicked our butts in STS and did a great job. And Kim did the same in ladies class.

One caveat is be careful if you eat Bernies Burger Bus stuff and if you want to live. Tasted great, looked better, was FREE but for 12 hours I couldn't get far from a toilet.

Maybe just me, but don't want to live those 12 hours again.

Good event. Marginal eats. Roger 'the real' courses!!!

Reminder to event planners, humans prefer enclosed spaces to relieve themselves. Two porto-cans at the far end of a narrow double grid and site facilities on the other side of the course don't make it, especially with paddock a quarter mile away.

Team Whitener was flying and lots of rocks came back to the FTW area. Madarash covered CP and pax'd the field. So what else is new.....

Good to see national finally enforcing penalties against those late to grid and work assignments. Unfortunately it appeared a bit selective. Obvious problems with sound monitoring at this one. Top of the pile was that a weenie protest was upheld. One quatro car and driver(s) should be parked by national for their antics but doubtfull anything will happen.

Missed the set-up, drove like crap, hotel flooded, ............ glad I'm home....

Congrats to all the trophy winners, especially ozmdd, who managed to trophy in STR at his first National event. Good job guys!

I'm really sad I couldn't make it. Instead of leaving for Houston Friday morning I ended up in the emergency room at Baylor Plano instead...

TX Region represented very well in Houston this weekend. I can't find results online yet that are in an export-able format, so I did this the old fashioned way - putting an eyeball on the results:

    34 Classes overall
    69 Trophies Given overall

    TX Region Trophies: 16
    • 1st Place: 11

    • 2nd Place: 3

    • 3rd Place +: 2

    YMMV
A Z06 is just like a Miata, but with the other half of the motor . . .

The bathroom situation was pretty retarded. It was a long walk from anywhere besides the timing trailer. Worse, the paddock was at the opposite end of the site from everything else, and not a single port-a-potty was placed down there. Dumb.

The dinner Saturday Night (sponsored by Vorschlag) was fantastic, and was the highlight of the event, socially. Really well-done. Of course, the Houston Region was very cool to provide free beer each evening in the Tower Club, but they only bought one keg, so it was floated before dinner even got served.

Another gripe is that they scheduled the course to be open for walking and tech/registration to be open from 5:00-7:30 pm on Friday, but they actually had to tear-down the course and close everything at 6 because the drag races were using the space. How does something like that get overlooked? It was a major pisser to anyone who drove in to Houston that afternoon expecting to get time to walk course. I got there a little after 5 and barely had time to tech register and get in one quick walk.

Still, a good event and great weather.

Great job by OZMDD. The lot was notably less grippy than LSP last weekend, which threw our setup out the window, but good challenging courses for sure. And wonderfully mild weather :)
