Default Hallett Open Thursday Evening and Raceports Still Available

    Good afternoon,
I just talked to Connie Stephens. The track will be open from 6-8 on Thursday, if you want to take your car or trailer to the track. You can also get set up early. Just an option. Also, We still have some raceports available.
Connie has listed the raceports that have been rented and who rented them. She has then listed the raceports available.

Lewis, How full are you? Are you guys gonna do well enough to justify M@H 10? I hope so. This is one of the top things I look forward to and don't miss every year.

    Question

Since I'm a noob to Miatas@Hallett I have a question. The following rule is in the registration packet...

"Appropriate clothing is required while on the track. Long sleeve shirts and long pants are required, preferably cotton. Shoes should be comfortable rubber smooth soled such as tennis shoes or boat shoes. No sandals will be allowed."

The only long sleeve shirts I own are dress shirts so I guess I need to pick something up to meet the requirement. What do all the cool kids wear? Also, the curious side of me wonders what the reasoning is for the requirement (not to argue or start a discussion, just curious...) ?

Lone sleeve t-shirt is ok. They do have some from the sponsor and at the track.

I tried to get raceport 17 but somebody beat me to it. So I got garage B. If anyone wants to share it with me let me know. $37.50

Cotton clothes so they don't melt to you in event of a fire. Shoes in lieu of sandals so your feet don't burn in a way that prevents you from getting out of a burning car. Long sleeve cotton tshirt and jeans along with rubber soled shoes with a leather upper and you're good to go.

All it will provide is a few seconds, but that's really all that's needed to determine a good or bad outcome.

Like Gab said, LS t-shirts are usually available at registration or at the track. $20-25 iirc. Go to wallyworld for cheap alternatives..sometimes at registration they have leftovers from years past at a discount.

As for the reason, I'm guessing it's some kind of insurance requirement for the track. Most all DE have the long pamts/sleeve requirements. I like to think of it as a redneck firesuit.

the long sleeve shirt is a Hallett requirement, not the Ar Miata Club's, and of course we have to follow their rules, and it is a reasonable one. I have worn an older white cotton dress shirt, and times by itself and also open, on top of a short sleeve T-shirt. Then I just take the long sleeve shirt off when I finish the session. No problem. I think any cotton long sleeve shirt will do.

Accuweather looks pretty food. There is a chance of t-storms on Friday rather than rain all day. I'll take that with the 75* high temp.

Thanks. I will get this tampon off my mirror by next year though.

Does anyone have pictures that do justice to the amount of rain that fell on Friday?
