looks like it could be a cusco cage, which isnt legal here in the US. and sometimes, like in drag racing, the harnesess can angle down up to 45 degrees, which, doesnt fly for miata people. i tried to tell my buddy that, but im not gonna argue with him because he knows more about that type of racing and the accompanying rules than me...

Drag racers aren't a bright bunch, are they? Physics don't care if it's roundy round or quarter mile or hydroplane racing... but if you come to a sudden stop and you've got shoulder harnesses mounted at too great of an angle from horizontal, you'll end up with your spine compressed. Not pretty.

Actually I heard Newton was a NHRA fan and offered them a few special rules. That is why tech at an import drag event consists of writing a number on your window in shoe polish.

There's certainly nothing funny about getting robbed, but this bit from the linked article did make me laugh:

In Palmdale, Calif., authorities shut down a Super Wal-Mart after some shoppers got rowdy late Wednesday. In West Bend, Wis., a 19-year-old man was injured when he ran into a pole racing with 50 others for one of 10 spots outside a Wal-Mart.
