Thread: Vacation... sorta...

I'm now in Aspen (riding at the moment, heading for a hotel). Beautiful road from Leadville to Aspen... I would LOVE to take the Miata on it. The weather is very comfortable too. Played golf this morning at Mt. Massive (highest golf course in North America!) and shot a 94... not too bad considering I haven't played since I moved to DFW. Tough course too!

Looks like we'll probably be staying at Mountain Chalet here... gonna run around and see the sights this evening, then maybe play golf again tomorrow. I'll post pictures tonight if I can

Aspen is beautiful too! If I was rich I'd have a summer home up here (too hot for autocross in DFW, so why stay around?)

Lucky dog you! Sounds like good times... and you really should go back there in the Miata - they loooove mountain roads! At least mine does...

Enjoy the rest of your trip and, uh, don't fall off any cliffs... yikes!

Well.... I hate to say it, but Texas just got OWNED badly in the BBQ department. I just had dinner at the Hickory House.

    Wow.

I have NEVER had baby back ribs like that before... my brother and I bought "The Feast", which includes smoked beef, chicken, baby back ribs, potatoes, corn on the cob, beans, and coleslaw.

I figure it was amazing because I never even looked at the sauce after they brought the meat out. When you don't need sauce, that's some reeeeeal good stuff I'm seriously stuffed right now.

Here's a couple more pics from today:

Hhmm... I not entirely sure that Texas is known for having the best BBQ around. Brisket, perhaps... but not the 'Q.

Now if you want really, really good BBQ, travel through Tennessee or live in KC like I did. There's the good stuff!

I dunno, I've run across a few little hole-in-the-wall places that had amazing stuff in TX, but nothing like this. I need to get out to other states more often

You couldn't be farther from the truth. Dude, I was up there last year for the FM Open-House. Me and My Miata, almost didn't come home. I thought about living up there and just driving the rest of my life. LOVE those roads!!!

BTW, the turbo really helped at those elevations. I was hands down the fastest car around. I was passing everyone like they were stuck in 1st. lol.
