email link help

When I click on an email link, yahoo email automatically opens. I never use yahoo, but it came with SBC. There has to be a way to designate the default email but I don't even understand how other people read this without coming to my house

Well... For starters... What DO you use for your email client?

To set the default, go to Tools... Internet Options... in Internet Explorer. Go to the Programs tab. Pick what ya want from the list.

D'OH - Webmail, and it ain't on the list...

I don't use express so it won't confuse the company set-up.

I dont know how it does it, but when I click on an email link a new window of firefox opens to gmail.

I've got the same thing on my laptop, except it goes to outlook express. When I go to change it as described by TC, that's the only option showing. How do I add another email option?

OK...

1. Open My Computer
2. Click Tools -> Folder Options
3. Click on the File Types tab
4. Under the Registered File Types window you want to click on "(NONE) URL:MailTo Protocol"
5. Click Advanced
6. Click on the "open" action and click Edit
7. Edit the string to have it open your mail program of choice.

What goes in the string depends on the program you want to have opened and the URL (if any) you want it to open if the program is Iexplore.exe
