Thread: NC Oil Change Question

    Default NC Oil Change Question

I was planning on changing the oil on my orphaned NC, and found this picture for the oil filter.

So I take it Mazda/Ford went back to a non replaceable canister setup? I had that same set-up on my Triumph TR6.

BMWs use that setup also. I'm a fan. The M3 had the quickest, easiest and cleanest oil change of any car I've owned.

"orphaned NC", you babysitting, or just bailing out a family member?

Yep and so do I (sort of).

I'm thinking I called up the wrong filter the first time around, think it is the canister style.

From what I have read, Mazda switched to the cartridge filter on the 2.3 Mazda3, but used a standard spin on for the 2.0 Mazda3. Since the NC has the 2.0, the spin on carried over. If the upcoming Mazdaspeed NC has the 2.3 Turbo as has been reported, we may see the cartridge filter for the Mazdaspeeds.

The NC uses a spin on. I got to see it up close last summer.
