    HEY!

I think I found the tranmission for your car. Curtis helped you out right? I had a friend sell you the tremec in that...

Too bad you never got it finished.

The v8 in a miata would be cool but there has to be a better transmission than a t5 or any other tremec series. I hate those transmissions, they are extremely notchy and just feel horrid.

I think it would be cool...but I couldnt see ADDING weight to my car, even if it means more power. Sure, I could put my 1450hp turbo'd Ls2 in my miata, but all that weight up front...not fun in the corners anymore. Straight line? LOTS of fun...but it would prob only weight 600lbs less than my Trans am in the end.

As for transmissions, I personally would put an auto in it...:) At least then I would not have to worry about all those gear changes wasting my time when the clutch pedal and not the gas pedal was on the floor!

Actually the iron block of the Miata isn't exactly light. I think a 302 adds only 250 lbs. An all aluminum LS1 is lighter than the 1.8 but the tranny is a bit heavier.

As for the tranny, slush boxes suck.
    ...and across the line.

This is a quick logic problem that can be solved without paper and pencil...

An all aluminum ls1 is right at 430lbs.
    A ford 5.0l is roughly 450lbs.
If you say that a 5.0l is 250lbs more than a 1.8, then we have to assume that this means a 1.8 is roughly 200lbs.

There is NO way an ls1 weighs less than 200lbs!
    Thats absurd.

    Conclusion...
An ls1 weighs roughly 230lbs more than a 1.8, depending on accessories used.

Of course when I was talking about engine swaps, I was talking about MY ls2, WITH turbo hardware. My intercooler alone is 46lbs, and the turbo is over 60lbs.
