I don't know about the other tracks but Texas Motorplex only has 1 event left for street cars and it is this Saturday.

Just going to the strip and running down the track takes no skill to speak of, but try going to few rounds at your local bracket race and you will find out how important a good reaction time is. Drag racing pretty much answers the old question........who's car is faster?

Drag racing was fun when I was young and quick. When my reaction times began to get longer, I gave it up, and am glad I made that first trip to TWS back in 1989......... BTW, now days with all the electronics in drag racing "real" reaction times aren't as important as you can compensate and still get good times. Not my idea of fun, though.

I've done both and the easiest by far has got to be drag racing. Anybody can mash the gas and go in a straight line and shift through the gears. Hell half the people that drag race street cars are using automatics which imho takes zero skill. The only semi difficult part is launching at the precise time, but even that with a few runs under your belt is easily managed. All I'm really trying to say is, if drag racing is your thing, more power to you, but its WAY easier than racing on a track. Just my two cents, not trying to start a forum war.

What I think is neat about drag racing (and something I doubt you ever see on a road-course) is the negotiations between two people trying to see how much they need to show the other without revealing too much about their car. Think Pinks, but without the cameras and annoying host. I like the idea of sleepers and the art of making a car look like a sleeper. Once you get into the professional side of it, then it all goes down hill, just as it does with any sport.

I used to drag race motorcycles alot back in the 80's. My best time was 11. something around 110 mph on a stock CBR1100 on street tire and no wheelie bar in the 1/4. Slow by today times but pretty fast back then. One time I had the guy in the next lane try to step off going about 80 after the turbo kicked in and sent the bike over backwards. Got to see what a shattered knee cap looks like. The guy seemed more worred about his bike than his knee? My brother that co-drives my car used to run 9.90 bracket on his.
It was alot of fun, but not as hard as getting a good time in a low powered car at the autocross. Drag racing is easy untill you get up to the 1000+ hp cars then it takes some skill.
