I have my R-comps now. I will install my trailer hitch on Friday and the wiring on Saturday. Perhaps we can find an AX on Sunday.
I guess I need a water sprayer for the tires, like the cool kids have.
Good one, I'll see if I can find an auto-x here in LA/San Diego and take pics if someone can confirm that it will really make jrj512's head explode :)

Did you buy a fresh set of tires? If so, make sure to store them properly between now and the beginning of the season to get the best out of them:
- Store them in heavy (3 mil. is good), opaque trash bags, sealed airtight.
- If they're mounted, store them deflated. This minimizes pressure oxidation of the rubber.
- Store them in a temperature regulated environment, if possible.
- Store them away from running electrical appliances or any other source of ozone.
A single driver probably won't need a sprayer at an SCCA or ER event in a light, well-balanced car like a Miata, unless it is really hot. BMW/PCA/S2k events are a different story, where the back-to-back runs will get the tires really hot.

Slight hijack here, but this seems to be the only AutoX thread with any life right now.
This tire storage thing brings up a question...
Many of us wait to order our tires until very close to the beginning of the year or right before a major event (Nationals). The assumption is that we're getting the freshest tires, but if they've been sitting on a rack in a warehouse somewhere I doubt they're being stored as good as you would at home. I could be wrong - maybe all the distributors have special storage areas for their 'special' tires, but I doubt it.
We've seen time and time again a brand new set of tires delivered with very old dates on them. Is it better to order them early and store them yourself, or wait and take a chance on getting a fresh set? Either way you could end up with a set that's been around for a while...
If they haven't been used yet does it really matter? I have my own opinions, but whaddayouguysthink?
A Z06 is just like a Miata, but with the other half of the motor . . .
With all the sets of 710's I went through on the RX-7 I would receive sets that were anywhere from a few weeks to many months (over a year) old. I never noticed a difference. IMO under anything resembling normal circumstance new R compounds don't begin to deteriorate until they've began seeing heat cycles. True slicks could perhaps be different.
If given a choice I would pick the freshest ones though.
I am the Cookie Monster, not the macaroni monster.
I only bought now to grab them at close-out prices. If I thought that the new 710 compund would make any difference, then I would have waited. I doubt I am good enough yet for a compound change to help (or hurt) me, so I figured I would get the TCB price.
In theory, tires start to age the minute they are taken from the mold and exposed to the air. Heat cycling accelerates this aging process, but it is not the sole contributor.
Does age matter with unused tires? Yes, but to what degree I can't tell you. I do know that Tire Rack agreed with this argument when Jon received "fresh" tires right before Nationals that were made in '05. Jon called to complain when he found out that we had received '07 tires from an order placed around the same time. Tire Rack comped his mount/dismount cost, paid to have the '05 tires shipped back, and paid to ship a fresh set of '07 tires to Jon at no cost to him, even though he had already put four runs on the '05 tires. That's a significant expense to incur if age doesn't matter on "fresh" tires.
Regarding storage, my understanding from previous conversations with Tire Rack employees is that they do indeed store their competition tires separately in a climate-controlled warehouse.
