Default The new tiburon looks great! And it's RWD!

Looks like it will be in the US as either a $19k turbo 4 cylinder, or a $24k 300hp V6! From the preproduction specs and rumor will it will come or be available with LSD, 6 Speed, Brembos, and double wishbone all around!

I sure wish these were production car pics. Not that I wish the production car to look like that, but rather, I would want to see what the real thing will look like.

I HATE prototypes and pre-production models.

Looks good and at least it's another rwd coupe to look at. I'd still take the Mustang gt over it even though the tib will have a better suspension. I have a soft spot for Mustangs though and motors that make power easily.

1st and 2nd pics make it look like a riced-out Crossfire...

My first thoughts: Eeewwwww and bleh.

Nope, it's not growing on me

Power package wise it looks somewhat attractive, but the exterior is classic Huyndai. Loos like they are trying to copy the Lexus IS for the front end and an older SC for the rear.

Having owned a Huyndai in the past, I don't forsee myself ever owning one in the future.

    From the press conference

While its already been revealed that the new coupe won't be coming with a V8, nor will Hyundai nix the front-wheel-drive Tiburon in favor of a strictly RWD sports car lineup, there are still plenty of questions that needed answering

    It looks pretty damn nice!

...but in the end it's still a f**king Hyundai.

Granted, I've heard and read good things about 'em lately, but IMHO they've got a long way to go before they shake that old shitbox image, courtesy of the lovely Excel.

    Agreed.

I was never a Hyundai fan, even before a Tiburon driver peed on my Supra (don't ask). My roommates Accent only contributed to my dislike of them... I don't think it was in proper condition for 1 moment that he had it. Thing that I remember going wrong with it (and this car didn't have that many miles on it; he got it around 2004 and it was a 2001 that hadn't been driven much):

    1. Reverse went out.

    2. Suspension went out (completely).

    3. Both power windows died, and the drivers side window would just fall.

    4. Paint started falling off, literally.

    5. Something went nuts with the transmission and engine, and by the time we got the car up here it would barely make 30mph.

    6. Interior knobs/buttons/switches started cracking and falling apart.

I think the speedo quit working too. He wasn't bad at taking care of stuff; I think the car was just a serious POS.

In terms of specs, general purpose, and styling (the whole long nose, liftback rear), I think it's something of a spiritual descendant of the old Nissan 240SX that I used to own, which I was quite fond of.

I kinda like it, plus I personally miss cars with liftbacks.
