Thread: SASCA Event #1 1/20/08

    Default SASCA Event #1 1/20/08

OK, I'm already jonsing. I damn near slalomed the construction site on the way home. I might go back later.

I was looking at the San Antonio Sports Car Association event on 1/20/08. I know a Marriott Courtyard that is within walking distance from the Mi Tierra Mexican restaurant in the El Mercado area of town. Hmm, maybe head down the night before, get some great Mexican food (they are open 24 hours, so we can go back for breakfast in the morning, too), and go racing.

    Something to think about.

Ok I am in for the drive. Should go down friday and do Fiesta Texas.
I learned this the hard way.....

Take all of your valuables out of your car at night. This includes taking the mounting hardware off of your windshield or dash and hiding the power supplies. I lost over $ 1,000 to a thief with no hope of recovering my items and to top if off they smashed my window in the rain and my truck got soaked. Let my loss be your learning experience.

Not until 2/10: http://www.tamscc.org/forum/index.php?doc=schedule. I might be game for it.

I wonder what's up with this? http://www.tamscc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7879. I am about to leave and have looked into it, but we might want to look into this "Baylor Autocross" for the future.

What's SASCA's deal with having "proof of insurance"?

I'd bet their insurance company requires proof of insurance for all participants. But that's just a guess.

What a great way to keep the mods and kid carts away!

(A&M also require info on your health insurance as well as auto insurance on a form they keep on file.)

Ok. Found this on their forum:

SASCA's new host venue , the AT&T center, is requiring that Proof Of
Insurance (POI) must be on file for all drivers BEFORE any future
autocross events at the AT&T center. This is in addition to our club's
standard event insurance and waiver forms.

We need to collect copies of each drivers POI BEFORE the next event. This is the insurance card that you hand to the nice officer along with your driver’s license. It should be in your glove box or wallet.

If we don’t get your POI on file BEFORE the October 22nd event, you
might not be able to run. We realize this is not ideal, but for now, this is part of the price of doing business with AT&T.If you tow your car, send in the POI for your tow vehicle. This requirement is for Drivers only, spectators do not need to have POI on file. We will need a new copy when the POI expires, not one for each event.

Here are some ways you can get your POI on file with us.

    1) Get out your digital camera. Photograph your POI card and email it to me. If you have a scanner that would work also.

    2) Mail me an extra copy or a photocopy of your POI card.

    Emails should go to
    [email protected]

    Postal mail should go to

Looks like I will not be able to make this. I will have to go to Salt Lake City for work. I weasel out of other trips during the normal race season by using the race card, so I had to go on this trip.

That's when restaurants are the busiest, so when you are dealing with an issue that only occurs during busy times...

I have always wanted to go to Salt Lake City, as I hear it is very beautiful. I'll bring a few wives back for you.
