Sad. Some of those cars look like they can still be restored.

And the sad thing is my old man has a '66 Jag E-Type that might as well be abandoned. It's been a "restoration project" since I've been alive on this earth (33 years and counting, and it's still not done - it was already on its second motor when he bought it in '70). Just do the math and you'll have an idea of how spotty those Jags were... but it's still one of the prettiest damn cars anybody ever made!

In another twist of fate, a few years ago my dad and I had a chance to buy THE Ferrari that graced the June 1960 cover of Road & Track - it was an old business partner's dad's car, yadda yadda. It was a basketcase that hadn't run in 15-20 years, but the body was straight and the interior wasn't rat-eaten (white w/red leather, btw). Well, that deal slipped away when some crazy high-dollar buyer came out of the woodpile.

    Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn!

BTW... what's up with the cowcatcher bumper on the Miura??? I'm not going to bitch b/c that is hands-down the sexiest car on the planet. I saw one at a car auction a while back - it was black with tan leather and gold wheels... very, very, very pimp... in a very good way. Good link...

Reminds me of one member of the old "Dallas Sports Car Club" back in the '60's. He bought 2 Panteras when they came out. When asked why, he said "so I'll have one to drive while the other is in the shop". Don't know what happened to him or the cars. They sold NEW for $12,500 at the Ford dealer back then.
