OK,

For those of you that are NOT computer savvy... there are several bugs in Macromedia Flash (now Adobe Flash) that if exploited will allow a bad guy to take over your system.

Go here to see what version you have. 9,0,115,0 is the FIXED version

Go here to get the uninstaller. Save it to your desktop. Close ALL your browser windows then run it to properly uninstall ALL of the old versions. (You may have more than one on your PC! One for Firefox, one for IE, etc... The uninstaller will find and delete all of them.)

When finished, go back here to get the new version installed. Do this for each browser you have (Firefox, IE, etc...) to make sure you have it installed. You don't have to do the install for every browser on your system since the next time you open a page that uses Flash it'll prompt you to install it then.

Mac folks will need to do the same thing. The Mac OS X uninstaller is here.

No it is not paranoia. There are exploits out on the web now for these vulnerabilities. Fix your PC ASAP.

That's one of those programs that is used A LOT on a PC and yet isn't covered by normal patching mechanisms. It's an easy way for someone to hijack your PC.
