Default Irving - Beltline between 183 and PGB (161) - Jaywalker Capital?

My wife and I recently moved from Valley Ranch to a house in real Irving.

Everyday travelling this stretch of road I see people jay walking across Beltline.

Some with children that are walking... some with babies in strollers... some just adults.

When an intersection is 100 feet away.

A few times I have seen Irving Police and Constable cars just past them.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

That is not a very high rent area. The residents really don't care and will cross where ever they feel.

I think it is the ones without cars and ignorant of the law, not all of the residents.

Also the Irving PD does not seem to care about the enforcement of the law.

My wife and I bought a really nice house in a nice pocket of Irving in the Hillcrest Oaks area. Huge mature trees well cared for houses etc.

Irving is hit and miss these days, 2 Blocks nice... 2 Blocks not as nice.

Its a shame because Irving used to be a pretty nice place to live.

I go over that way every Tuesday by Pioneer Parkway and Irving Blvd. I see a lot of hispanic fols over there doing that.

There is a great hamburger joint over in downtown inside of the old drug store. For a cheap lunch, you can go over to Angelo's off of Pioneer Pkwy.

Irving owes a great debt to DART.

Yeah the rail project has really been a .

It can be argued that DART really started Irving's downhill ride to begin with.

Absolutely. Combine that with the way Irving allowed unchecked cheap apartment construction over the past 30+ years and you have all the right ingredients for seeing your community go down the toilet.

If you build it, (cheap rundown housing) they will come (via DART).

My wife and I got such a great deal on our house and our neigborhood is really nice so we will ride it out for a while and see what happens.

My wife also is a teacher that will be going back to get her Masters in Library Sciences... Irving ISD has one of the best school library systems in the states.

I would love to see Irving turn it around.

Maybe with the moving out of Jerry Jones and the soon to be Arlington Cowboys, they will have a nice turn around.

i dont know about anyone else, but if ive got to cross a street- i never do it at an intersection.

if you are at the intersection of 2 streets, youve got to worry about people running lights, turning left or right without looking/slowing.....

in the middle of a street, youve got one thing to deal with- the cars in the lane you are in. they will be going straight and its easy to see them. cross one lane, wait in the median, then cross the other lane.

what i cant stand is when people cross the street and take thier time. strutting across the street like a 2500lb car moving 20-40mph doesnt hurt.
