Thread: Cleaning tree sap and bird poop off my top?

  1. #1

Default Cleaning tree sap and bird poop off my top?

Pretty basic question here, but what should I use to clean my canvas soft top? I got some stuff from Titus but it looks like it's just a protectant, not a cleaner. Any recommendations before I go out there and eff it up?

Come in, blackroadster... I know you're out there.

    +1 to that.

Insurance payoff for my slashed top qualifies me for a robbin's canvas upgrade and I have no idea what to do to those~

Can you scotchguard them? I think that would be neat.

OK hang on... I found the bottle of stuff Titus gave me. It's a protectant and a cleaner. Doh. I'm going to go try some today if it warms up a little.

BTW, it's called Blue Magic Convertible Top Cleaner. Boy do I feel like a dumbass... hey kids, look before you post!

Of course, I think an expert opinion would still be welcome here...

You could always do a search.

I switched to the RagTopp stuff it lasts longer and makes the top look better IMHO.

I think we got the kit that had both in it for 30 bucks. It's kept the S2000 top looking nice for 8 years and running. Unfortunately my Miata top was already past it's prime when I bought the car.

Well, I used BR's cheap and easy method, rubbed on the stubborn spots a little, and got everything spotless. Then I conditioned it with the stuff I got from Titus (since I had it on hand). It looks damn good!

...but I'm going to put it down and throw the hard top on before I leave for New Mexico on Friday.
