Welp, I used to work security there so I'll be in their good graces. I'll try to be there... after 11PM we'll be golden (that's my old shift).

Well... I'll be there if the finish panel on my Miata is finished.

If I'm not at House of Blues, I'll be stopping in. Sounds like a great photo op if nothing else!

I haven't read anywhere about getting explicit permission, hopefully it's not going to be a problem though.

A few of us MR2 owners were planning to get there early, maybe they can talk to the police/security. I'd be willing to make a few phone calls or drive up there in person in advance, I just need to find the time off of work. Seeing as I'm not the one who organized the meet though, not sure if that's appropriate.

If you saw the map posted, that area is usually dead on the weekends. Nobody likes to park that far out. That is why I suggested that area for the meet.

The actual mall parking lot isn't the easiest place to hang out unnoticed, unless like I said it's after 11PM when the midnight shift comes on. I was a security supervisor there until a couple of weeks ago and some of the guards have something to prove and will make you miserable. The police substation in the mall doesn't make things easier, plus cops are prowling the area at all hours also.

You can give it a shot, but I don't highly recommend it. It's difficult enough for a legitimate event to use the lot.

OK... So a bunch of people driving modified cars are going to show up on a parking lot... unannounced to the owners/security personnel... and just 'hang out' in a place where cops like to cruise and the security folks like to be asshats?

    I'll pass.

It sounds like a great place to have your car searched by the local LEOs or a great place to get on someone's "never have your car on our property again" list.

I guess if you've got something in your car you don't want the police to find, you shouldn't be going anyways. I don't have that problem.

I wasn't aware it would be that big of a problem. I go to a weekly meet in Grapevine and we "hang out" behind a restaurant and cops cruise by all the time. A few times they have stopped and asked us what was going on, we say it's a car meet, and they say OK have fun and drive off.

I guess it's different at the mall?

I had a friend OK a search on his car and the cops found a old bag of weed stashed by the PO.

    My friend got arrested.
His wife had just had a baby, and her whole family was in town.

    lol, that's just bad luck.

I've posted ona a few other forums my concerns about security (quoting MadMonkey), and people still want to go. So I guess we'll just hope for the best. Someone said that a Subaru group has met in large numbers there before and never got in trouble, a little reassurance.

Ok serious time! Due to popular demand we are having the whole meet at Fudruckers. This is for 2 reasons:

    1. Increased turnout and mall security - We've had dinner meets at Fudruckers before and the management has always been nice and never had a problem with us standing around in their parking lot. If the weather isn't bad we could have 50+ cars, if we have the meet at a restaurant people can eat first and we won't be loitering when we stand around outside.
    2. Weather - If it's 50 degrees outside having somewhere warm (with free refills) to go stand and talk in will be pretty nice.

I called Fudruckers just a minute ago and let them know we would be coming and reserved the back room. They're open till 11pm. The only problem I think people might have is parking:
    Reduced: 71% of original size [ 896 x 314 ] - Click to view full image

Each one of those blue boxes is 5 parking spots. Just around the front ot Fudds there are almost 65 spots, and down the alley to What-a-burger there are 35. Even if 75 cars show up some people can go eat and park at What-a-burger. I know this isn't the ideal situation but it should work out just fine!

So if you want to come and have dinner be there at 8:00 if not 9:00.

    Oops.

    It's this Saturday March 8th, 2008.

The creator has decided to do different dinner times for different forums/cars. The MR2 guys will be there early at 6:30, everyone else later at 8:30. That way 100 people aren't waiting to be seated/served all at the same time. Miata guys come whenever you want. I'd suggest eat early with the MR2's and then stay late to see the other cars if you want?

I dunno', I didn't go haha. I ended up having to go to a dinner in Frisco that lasted till midnight.

From reading the MR2 forums it seemed everyone there had a good time. Great turnout.

Then reading the other "general" car forum people were complaining that it was unorganized, people couldn't find where to meet, then some others ended up going to GVM Mall and getting in trouble, etc.
