    It's my intention to get an open face specifically for AX..... I have enough full face SM2000s, but they're restrictive and HOT in any weather. I don't mind wearing them on the bikes because I'm used to them and I like my pretty face.......

    An open face would probably make me feel less claustrophobic than the full face while driving the little cage.

    I find the AX requirements a little over-protective. It's AX for gosh sakes. I find most open track requirements to be too lax. But less from an equipment standpoint, more from a driver instruction pre-requisite.

    Let's see, in the last five years of autocrossing in DFW we've had (that I'm aware of):

    Four cars hit solid objects (two cars went home on trailers)
    One car flip and barrel roll three or four times.

    ALthough the possibility of injury or damage is less at an autocross than open track, we have access to some local venues that allow for pretty high speed events.

    I'll agree with you on the open track requirements, though.
