I'm not going to say any of them deserved it... but... wow, get a brain, people.

The one guy was older than me I thought street racing was for young punks I'd chased off my lawn.

That's really sad...I can't imagine what the guy in the sedan must be feeling...whether or not it's his fault, he just plowed down a crowed and killed 8 people.

Strange the Crown Vic driver didn't have his lights on. I was also surprised by the wide range of ages present.

He said he had his lights on, and didn't see any smoke. He slammed on his breaks but wasn't quick enough. 20 year old driver is traumatized and won't drive again - especially at night. I thought it was interesting that those killed were in their 30's & 40's and one in his 60's. All the outcry of opposition - and the spectators aren't kids.

Very different accounts between the driver (and his brother?) and the witnesses -- so we should wait for the truth to get sorted out before "passing judgment". But one thing is clear: a bunch of people were gathered to watch an illegal activity (street racing), and some of these folks got killed. I'm certainly not saying those people deserved to die, but if you are in the streets of Pamplona watching the running of the bulls, there's a chance you are going to get gored.

Definitely sad for all involved, but worse if the driver's story turns out to be the truth, as he was not racing and was only in the right place (on a highway) at the wrong time...

Hopefully this serves to shed some light on the real face of street racing. My car seems to draw challenges to race on a pretty regular basis and it the ages are in line with this sad event. It is sad how often I pull up along side an IROC or Firebird driven by a guy in his 40s who wants to race me.

Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...
