Thread: Anyone AutoXing their NC?

    Default Anyone AutoXing their NC?

I am curious how long I should wait before having some fun in my NC? (AutoX)
I know the proper break in as far as the manual says, but what do you guys think is a relatively safe break in period to try some AutoX's.

    Thanks

Brad uses his Nc for autocross, dont' know what to tell you for the other question.

Based on what we learned from Brad's NC, you will need to get an RX8 front sway bar, but other than that, you would be ready to go.

Not sure about the break-in period.

They're all the same, just get the one from the 6spd manual cars. They pop up on RX8club from time to time for about 50-80 bucks.

Make sure you get the bushings, too. I got the Mazdaspeed RX-8 bar and had to source poly bushings (27mm) after the fact.

You're gonna want tires, too - eventually.

    Yep these suck pretty bad.

have you had any trouble with the 3rd gear shifter fork?

Not yet, but every now and again I do feel a little ... well, I just feel something from second to third. Never going the other way, though. I mentioned it at my 1000 mile service, so it's noted in my records. If it becomes an issue, I'll have it replaced.

Probably just stock tires until they wear down.

I am trying this on a shoestring budget afterall.

I ran last year on my steet 235/40-17 Goodyear F1 GS-D3s, and they're pretty good for a non-R-compound, full-tread-depth tire. I'll bet they'd make an extremely good rain tire.

This year, I'll be on 245/40-17 BFG R1s, mounted on wider (9") Enkei RPF1 wheels.

Use up the stock tires. It makes no sense to upgrade the tires until you know what you're doing. No offence. Those "crappy" tires will wear like iron and provide an excellent learning opportunity; they will give plenty of feedback.

I need to get my car to an autocross and figure out hows it's gonna handle.

I haven't really had a chance to play with tight corners much but the couple I have scared me a little bit.

It had the feeling that the tire was going to roll off the rim and rear end wasnt very predictable....pressure in the tire was at 30lbs all around.
I might end up springing for a set of sways.

As stated before, all you need is a front sway bar from an RX8. Cheap and easy. Don't complicate it with a rear sway that you do not need and that will take you out of the Stock class. Once you leave the Stock class, then you get to start pouring money into the car to make it competitive. We've seen how modifying a car too much works out for you, so leave it as stock as possible.
