Thread: What would you do?

    Default What would you do?

I had ordered 4 Ultimate Garage 24 in. 2-Door Hanging Wall Cabinets from sears, $216.46 shipped for all 4. Today, Brown Santa stopped by with 4 high end KitchenAid Standing Mixers worth about $1200. What would you do?

I'd check my cc and see what Sears dinged me for first.

Tell them you want the cabinets you ordered and you want a pre-paid return slip for the extra stuff you didn't order.

Oh - don't forget to tell them you won't ship that stuff back until you A) get the pre-paid return shipping slip and B) you get your cabinets.

Thankfully I was here and just refused delivery. My only concern is that SEARS will cancel the order and no longer honor the kickass $49/each sale that is now over. I sent them a nasty email, so we will see.

Come on.. nobody thinks I should open a bakery? It was funny... when I opened the door and saw what Brown Santa had, I must have had a strange look on my face... He says "Not what you ordered? I had a feeling... unless you own a bakery, I can't see anyone having a need for all these."

We do apologize that we shipped you four Kitchenaid Mixers instead of the Garage Cabinets that you ordered. Once the Mixers have been received back in our warehouse we will issue credit for the entire order back to the account used in order XXXXXXX. We do apologize that a new order will need to be placed if you would still like the Garage Cabinets. If we can assist you in replacing the online order, please telephone us at 1-800-349-4358.

I called them and they are re-filling the order at the sale price, but are charging me again and won't refund the first charge until they get the mixers back.

I guess the title of this thread would be different if they had delivered 4 Tig Welders.

After calling them back (again), the submitted a request to refund the difference, but credits take 3-5 days. So, I have over $600 in charges to my CC for $216 worth of cabinets that I don't have. The sale price refund should come through this week, and the original order refund will be issued 3-5 days after they get the mixers back, and the new cabinets should arrive tomorrow.

OK, so lots has happened today.
    1) I actually received the cabinets!

    2) I reviewed my CC statement online to see what charges and credits I have recieved....

    Charges- $216.46 (Original Order), and $389.66 (re-order).

Credits- $187.27 for overcharging on the re-order.

But wait... 389.66 - 187.27 = $202.39. It looks like I ended up getting the re-order for $14.07 less than the original order.

    3) Then I asked myself, "what about the original charge?" Well before I had a chance to call them, they sent me another email. "This email is to acknowledge that we have received your return and it is currently being processed. This credit should appear on your credit card statement within thirty (30) days." 30 days?

    You're a banker, right? 2 charges and 1 credit?

    You're in for $418.85.

    FU Sammm.

The credit is clearly tied to the second transaction, not the first. The email promises payback for the first transaction, so hopefully my balance sheet will end up at $202.39.
    In 30 days.
