Where in town (Dallas/FW) does one get RC car stuff these days? I've got a fleet of old Tamiya cars (along with an X-brand bike) that I'd like to get running in order to decide whether or not to sell some of 'em. I'm dating myself here, but the last time I bought RC car stuff, it was at Bobbye Hall's down in the Ghetto @ Bryan and Fitzhugh. Can you tell how long it's been since I've broken my toys? Seriously.

Is Wild Bill's still open in Irving?

FYI, I've got an original Frog (which I've had for 20+ years), a fairly pristine Bruiser (again, 20+ years), a never-run Ayrton Senna JPS F1 car, a Porsche 962, a Tamtech Testarossa (1/24 scale!), and the aforementioned bike (along with an RC10 somewhere around here). Oh yeah, I've also got a LaTrax (Traxx?) Corvette around here, which I've had for almost 30 years. ARGH!!!

I mainly need batteries and a charger for these little beasts...

^ What he said, but I've vowed to never step foot in Mike's again after being treated like crap several times (the last time I wasn't in the store for 5 minutes before a guy started accusing me of opening hardware packages. I threw my stuff on the counter, walked out, and haven't been back since). They do have quite a bit of car stuff though... maybe you'll have better luck than me.

AeroHobbies stocks Traxxas, HPI, RC10GT, Losi, and XTM parts. They're in Lewisville on business 121 (2305) next to McDonald's in a shopping center. Andy is a good guy; that's where I bought my current radio system. Be prepared for a blank look when you ask car questions though... he's a helicopter guy

I usually go to Roy's Hobby Shop on Norwood in Hurst though. There's a couple of young guys that run the car/boat/electric plane section and they're knowledgeable about all of it. They've done a decent amount of work for me, and in my experience you won't find a friendlier shop.

I don't think I've been to any other shops around here. There's one called Wild Bill's somewhere around Arlington, but I don't know how much car stuff he has. There's also a HobbyTown USA around Flower Mound, but they rarely have very knowledgeable people working. Good place to go if you know what you're doing

    Hope this helps

That shop is on FM3040 @ the Valley Parkway intersection - the first red light west of 3040 & Edmonds (back side of the old TI/Raytheon plant)

Wild Bills is still open in Irving. I have not been there in years, but I drive by it on the way to my parent's house.

Ahh, the days of having an RC-10 in the mid-eighties when they first came out.

I agree, Roy's is great. Also on south Hulen past the mall about 1/2 mile north of Old Granbury Road on the east is another nice RC shop. Its in the back right of the shopping center.

I had an Associated 12E in the late 70's and early 80's. Fun little cars.
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

FWIW wild bills is still open and had plenty of stuff on their shelves. I went there last year when I lived in Irving. I don't know jack about RC cars mind you, I was looking at their RC airplanes and helipcopters, my dad used to fly them a long tome ago...but I quickly realized it was far too expensive a hobby to get in to right now while still trying to stay alive in college.

$160. That's all you need... ask for a HobbyZone Super Cub. Best electric trainer out there and comes with everything you need.

Of course, once you get started, it's hard to stop

Ironically, he's never owned any of them long enough to have ever used the re-charger.
