    Default Surprise 83rd birthday party.......

NO! Not mine.......my mom. We flew to Philly Friday morning, picked up a red Toyota Matrix, and two hours later were at the retirement home in Lancater, Pa. Was she ever surprised! The weather was great, and I think all we did was eat! Alas, it was a short stay, since she had quit driving last November and her Miata was coming back to Texas. Had to replace the battery as I was expecting, so I had orderd a Westco and had it delivered to a friend. It fired right off, I put it in "D" and took mom for one last ride. We left at 10AM Saturday, got into a couple of nasty storms down I-81 and into Knoxville with no problems. Called it a night just a bit east of Nashville after 760 miles. Sunday started early with a 7:30 departure and we pulled in to Springtown twelve hours later. These trips used to be fun, but my old bones don't enjoy it as much as they used to...... Now, what to do with a red 94 Miata with 84K miles and an automatic, only driven by a little old lady for the last six years.

AWWW! Aren't you the sweet son! Did you drive or did you let her drive under your supervision?

I shudder to think of the day when my kid takes my car away from me!

You were that close and didn't go ride the Dragon?

Glad you made it back safe!

She made the decision by herself. I didn't really want this Miata back, but there was a time that Shelley did. Not until we got home did she tell me she didn't anymore So, I guess it will go up for sale. When I bought this car, six years ago, it was in great shape. Now, the paint is a mess. I knew she had it waxed by the local Mazda dealer once a year, but didn't realize they buffed it down to the primer in many places................
