They've got as good of a chance as the other 2 teams they are tied with.

Not with Dirk on the bench.

Mathematically but not in reality, we got our tails handed to us by both of them recently.

I vote NO... man, I'm so pissed about the Mavs right now... I mean, Jason Kidd? Seriously? Who thought this was a fantastic idea???

Kidd is a good addition, but without Dirk, they have no real chance.

Trouble with the team is, they do not believe in themselves. Losing to Miami in the finals two years ago and in the first round debacle last year... Well, let's just say they have become the Buffalo Bills of the NBA.

I think they believe they can do it....so long as the NBA lets them. I watched both those playoff "loses" and if it wasn't rigged, then I'm a leprechaun. Did you see the fouls they were calling? The Mavs would get a UFC style foul, and no whistle, but a Mav would be within 3ft of a shooter, looking the OTHER WAY, and they would get called. I can undertstand their frustration 100%.

Jason Kidd was a BAD CHOICE on Cuban's part. They were better before the trade, and basicly made it this year or never, cause they got rid of their future with Devon Harris. I LOVED watching D.Harris rip thru defenses with his speed. It's a way to keep the opponent honest and on their toes, and Kidd CAN NOT do it.
Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).

Default Well this is a suprise....

...19 people voted and only 3 said, "Yes, Go Mavs!"

Of course that was four days ago. Last night's game seemed like they could beat anyone, even with a semi-gimped Dirk.

Wonder how they'll do Friday against Lakers?

Wonder if Mark Cuban can give them some extra money to FINISH THE GAME? Hell, I could have maintained that lead. Well, maybe not. Seriously, just put the ball through the hoop and don't get ticky-tack fouls.

Default 4 outta 21 dentists recommend Mavs for those who chew gum.

They did it. This is historic times that may bring about playoff changes in the future. When the 7th seed needed 50 wins and the same seed in the eastern conference needs only 39 to clinch a playoff berth...

Anyway, I'm happy for the Mavs but I suspect which ever team wins the west will be too exhausted and beat up to take the Celtics or Pistons.

Can't say I'm surprised. They couldn't win the big one with him at coach (even though it's the actual players who control that.)

He did good for them when he started. I'm not surprised, but I figured he be around a little longer.
