Prorated tire replacement

So we are getting some tires for my GFs car, and I was wondering if any of you all get the prorated replacement certs. It seems like a Best buy "warranty" to me. It really doesnt even seem like that great of a deal since the tires cost around $50 and the replacements are 13.50 a tire. So if we get one flat, we break even. And that is if the tire is brand new. If it is prorated then you pretty much have to drive through a construction site to have a chance at making your money back on all 4.
