I would lean towards finding a part time job and going to summer school. WIth a degree she would be able to compete better in the work force.
My fiancee lost her job when the bank she worked at was bought by a larger chain. She is in the awkward position of being overqualified with salary requirements higher than most of the entry level positions but she is a couple semesters shy of her degree, preventing her from competing with others in her field of expertise. She has experience in retail management, customer service, certified tax preparation, banking and finance and credit analysis.
I have no problem supporting us both excepting the fact that we are saving for our wedding/reception which we contracted before she became unemployed, and having a good percentage of our combined income disappear is taking its toll on our savings and not to mention providing a ton of stress.
She is extremely bright and motivated, I guess its just a streak of bad luck that has kept her from finding her next employer. We've exhausted all of our contacts without any leads, I was hoping some of you might know where to turn at this point - we're getting desperate!

Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...
its going to take more than summer school for her to get her degree, and she will have to take out a sizable loan to pay for the rest of her classes and books and fees next fall... she was working and going to school full time before and doing well at both, so no time conflicts there. we need to be paying debt down atm instead of creating more.
I'm sorry I guess I did not really say what I meant. Lets try again....
In college summer school you can pick up allot of credits in a short amount of time. Can she work part time while going to summer school and then work full time in the fall and spring? I know that have to borrow money to pay for school may not be easy to swallow, but after she graduates it will all be worth it.

Tarrant County has been very good to my wife. Your fiancee may want to check the website and see if there is anything she may want to do.

a gov't job would be awesome.
I work for Dallas County, and it's a good gig, but it would be great if I didn't have to drive to Dallas from Mansfield.
