Thread: Got another ticket......

  1. #1

    Default Got another ticket......

I got a ticket by a denton county sheriff a few weeks back for 71mph in a 60mph on hwy 380 at 3:30am.

I called the justice of the peace court in sanger,tx today, and was given the option of paying the ticket($147) or doing deferred adjudication($230). Defensive driving is not an option for me since this is a county court, and I've taken it within the last year.

I drive 8,000 miles a month right now and I get pulled over quite often. I can't afford to be on probation for 90 days.

    You guys have any suggestions?

Can you afford the ticket on your record? I'd do the defered and slow your down in Denton County for 90 days!

BTW. no one will die if the greensheet is late.

I have a Bel980 that is no longer in use since my dad gave me his V1, PM me if you're interested. I think it has the same chipset in it as the Escort Passport 8500.

Wags has a V1 but instant on radar on an empty road at 3:30am = busted.

I'd suggest you slow down. Typically (although every cop is different) you can get away with less than 10 mph over the limit.

Set the cruise at 65 in a 60 and you should be safe. 6 mph is not going to make a big difference in your schedule and should keep you "under the radar".

To truly avoid tickets keep it at the speed limit. Here again. 11 mph isn't going to make a huge difference in the long run even with the miles you drive.

As an added bonus, your already stellar mpg should be even better.

Some of the GPS navs out there allow you to set an alarm if you go over a set speed. Might help.

Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

Only 11mph over the limit? At 0330? That's ridiculous!

Shoulda told him you'd been drinking all night at the gun club meeting. Get em all excited about a possible DUI and they'll forget all about that speeding thing!

+1 for keeping it off your record... I used to be King of Deferred Adjudication - my record is three outstanding tickets in two different counties at one time.

Otherwise, maybe you could rig a throttle stop!

Karma sucks, doesn't it? You speed so much that you think you are above the law, then reality punches you in the balls. I know that story all too well. From personal experience, I'd say get deferred and back off the throttle a bit, but I know you too well to expect that....

Next time, run away. Throw bundles of books at the cops while they try to keep with you. That ought to do the trick. Oh, and add one of those hinged license plate brackets with a remote switch to hide your identity from the pesky dashboard camera.

No. I'm sure i'll have to face the $230, but I refuse to believe that I don't have another option. It's not just denton county, it's the whole state!

No greensheets. I generally just take those to recycle.

I think sex changes cost around the same price as your miata.

It was laser. Sometimes I can get away with 10mph over. The cop was a tool. He held me there for 30 minutes to give a citation for 10 over.

Just so you know. It is illegal for an officer to detain you for more than 15 minutes, its harrasment. They either have to write you a ticket or take you to jain in that time frame otherwise they have to let you go.

The officer with the gun can do what ever he/she wants and as long as he/she wants.

Car and Driver, 5 things to do. at a traffic stop. Give the officer a hard time about how long it is taking and you might get 7 tickets.

Maybe move the seat back a notch or two. Make it harder to push the go fast pedal.

    8000 miles a month!. Ouch. 8000 miles / 22 mpg=363.64 gallons times $3.55 = $1,290.93/month. I guess I will stop whining about my gasoline bill.

But basically if you are spending that much time on the road your odds of getting nailed is much higher than the average speeder due to exposer.
