[28]Id.; see United States v. Sandoval, 29 F.3d 537, 542-43 (10th Cir. 1994) (holding that prolonged detention beyond time necessary to write citation was unreasonable absent reasonable suspicion of criminal activity); People v. Cox, 782 N.E.2d 275, 280-81 (Ill. 2002) (detention for fifteen minutes to write out ticket while awaiting arrival of drug-sniffing dog called at outset of stop held unreasonable absent reasonable suspicion); Haas v. State, 172 S.W.3d 42, 50 (Tex. App.CWaco 2005, pet. ref=d) (citing United States v. Kelley, 981 F.2d 1464, 1470 (5th Cir. 1993)) (noting, under appropriate circumstances, extensive questioning about matters wholly unrelated to routine traffic stop may violate Fourth Amendment).
    Blah blah blah!

But basically if you are spending that much time on the road your odds of getting nailed is much higher than the average speeder due to exposure.
That's why I drive the diesel. Even though it's $4.xx a gallon, my cost per gallon is cheaper than just about every gasoline car that isn't hybrid.

Glad you see it that way, as well. I'm basically 6.5 times more likely to get pulled over.

Yes, we know and understand. But it works, and doesn't cost anything extra.

Somehow it bothers me that you know this. Hmm, watching PBS?

That case law is for distinguishing if questioning without probable cause prolongs the detention past the time it takes to investigate and write the citation.

It does not set a rigid 15 minute limit on a traffic stop.

Try quoting 14 year old case law at 3am in Denton County and this will probably happen next...

It's not so much about feeling above the law... How about, "I know this is gonna catch up to me sooner or later."

And it did... It caught my wife too. We get to do His and Hers Defensive Driving.

My Boxster has this and I find it very helpful. Also, use the cruse control as a measure against the heavy foot. The best advice is to learn to be patient and drive close to the speed limit.

+1 on the cruise control. Not to mention, the view is better when you have a little space between you and the guy ahead of you.
