No mention of tires, I see...
Not content to beat the BMW M5 for the title of fastest sedan, John Heinricy drove the upcoming '09 CTS-V around the famed Nurburgring in less than eight minutes, beating the M5, M6, SL55 AMG, and the 997 Carrera s. In fact, it's only 3 seconds a lap slower than a Z06!

No mention of tires, I see...
When I read this article several weeks back, it mentioned ( I am recalling and paraphrasing) the tires were the street tires it will be sold with. I know the the tires were not R-compound. Of course it did have a safety bar in the car which may have help with rigidity. None the less, I plan on the having the 2010 version in my garage right next to my Spec miata.
LOL no modifications outside those planned for consumer production. Guess they'll all come with a roll cage and lightweight Sparco race seats then. This Nurburgring battle is getting older than "my dad can beat up your dad"

If I were trying to set a lap record at the'Ring, I'd want a roll cage and proper safety equipment in the car. Cosmos, I think the proper interpretation of that statement is no performance modifications.
