Default Off-Road adventures with the Teins... :)

So I went down to the Hill Country this weekend, and I had a BLAST on those Hill Country Roads! Dayum!

The scenery was incredible, and we did nothing but drink beer and kayak on the Llano River on Saturday. However, I have one TINY bone to pick with the hosts of our family reunion... Nobody ever said I had to have a friggin Scooby Doo Outback to get down to the House on the River. Goddammit! Anyhow... it all worked out for the best, and I didn't knock a hole in my oil pan (although I heard/felt some pretty ominous bumps under the car this weekend). So the upside is that I drove some of the most scenic roads I've ever seen in the Miata! Including the shitty 10 miles of gravel/rock/dirt/sand/oil/shit roads that almost took the oil pan off my car... Good Times!

The Teins did just fine on the washboard roads with street settings... although I DID think I might have dragged the bottom off my car a few times in the sand, over the cattle guards - jeeez what a friggin ride... very, very, very good times, in spite of all that.

The BIG upside to the trip was that we went thru Dublin, TX and got a REAL Dublin Dr Pepper (made with REAL Imperial Cane Sugar)! Gotta say that it's wildly different from today's HFCS DP - more bite and the best nose-burning burps since childhood! YES!!!

Pix on Facebook now... but more pix to follow here at some point... zzzzz.

Dirt and gravel roads are fuuuun in Miatas (if you don't care about your paint). Although... gravel can sneak up on you at inopportune times...

The DP in Dublin was $1 per bottle, or $16 per case of 24. Sadly, we only had room for a 12-pack at that point, so I didn't get the bulk discount (damn you, little car!). Granted, I could've bought cans for $0.60/ea, but that just kinda defeats the purpose, right?

Anyhow, here's a link to some pix... mostly family, but you can get an idea of where we were hanging out all day Saturday. And, yes, some of the later pix might look a little fuzzy... that's prolly the Miller Lite taking hold at that point.
