Default WTF happened on Hwy 380 last night?

As I neared the end of my 13-hour drive home last night (it was about 9:45pm), I came over a hill on eastbound 380 between Decatur & Denton and found a string of brake lights stretching over the next hill. I waited in line about 5 minutes then decided to turn around and backtrack through Decatur, down 287 to 114 to home.

There was a steady stream of Care Flights headed back and forth.

    Had to be pretty bad.

Oh man.... I was just on the FlyingGiants (RC forums) board and read about a fellow RC pilot getting into a serious accident in that same area... he was Care Flighted to Dallas Methodist Hospital in Oak Cliff in critical condition.

There were horses running loose in the road and they couldn't stop in time... the whole top of the car was ripped off on impact.

I don't know if this was the same accident, but it seems like a big coincidence. When exactly did this occur? The night of the 12th?

This was indeed Saturday night, the 12th, and I hit that backup just before 10pm. I know 380 can be a bad scene, especially between Decatur and McKinney, and as I was rolling into my 12th hour on the road, that thought crossed my mind - there were a LOT of trucks out there, and I saw a few ill-advised passes.

But, horses? Yikes... how's that guy doing?

If that was the same night, then that explains the Care Flight choppers that Rogue saw, along with the backup. As low on mental fumes as I was at that point, sounds like that coulda been my ass as well if the timing had been different.

Okay... I'm still waiting to hear details from the poster on the RC forums, but it could have been the same accident. If not, that's a weird coincidence.

He had his face crushed by the impact, and he also has a broken neck, crushed chest, and a badly broken
arm. Still in critical condition as of yesterday. I didn't know him personally, but he's local to the DFW area.
