Default master done, off to production tomorrow

as the title says, i finished the Mastering of my CD yesterday, finishing off artwork tonight and then off to get made tomorrow.
I ended up with 9 tunes and a little kiss
It came out pretty good and I am happy with it, far better than anything I could have done in my home on my gear....for now.

I already have my second CD written and will go into the studio in 09 to release it.

This first CD is called "Under the Covers"

thanks to everyone for the great support and interest, I really do appreciate it. I am going to mention DFWMiata in my credits.

Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

political? well 3 songs are somewhat

enviromantal, nope my disc is plastic in a plastic jewel case, wrapped in plastic shrink wrap, non earth friendly ink and paper, and I sprayed out a lot of exhaust fumes driving around to get it made.

    I am doing a run of 1000 CD's, I am being optimistic :)
They will be $10.00 if you get them through me or at a show, I will also probably have them on CD baby too but they will be more expensive there as the cost is high to have them worry with shipping and credit cards.
oh... and if someone wants me to autograph them I would be happy to.

Thanks for the support guys I really appreciate it.

I was just thinking this morning, anyone ever see that McDonald's commercial where the little teenie bopper girl is singing in the sound booth and two guys are in the console room eating and one of them on accident hits all mute except vocals...then you hear the girl is really really bad at singing so they scramble to bring up the rest of the music so they can enjoy their food.
Recording mics, well good ones are just like that, they are unforgiving.
Playing just guitar and singing leaves a person very very exposed, and I am finding out of yet another kind of practice.
There is rehearsal, live stage practice, at home practice and now recording practice.
Each one requires a different mind set and focus
So many bands will spend weeks in a studio cutting a CD, the reason why is they will punch in parts...for instance.
if you sing a line or play a note and a word is off pitch or a note or chord is sour, you just have the sound guy cut that part out and record you doing it again.
I didn't do any punches on this CD, what we did do is on some of the cuts I recorded two takes of the entire song, and picked the one I liked best.
I knew about this stuff but to hear how some people punch in and out parts of the entire song to get them perfect makes me understand why I have went to so many concerts and the band I liked on the CD I hated live, and I know now why they sounded completely different live.
just pondering all of this, this morning and thought I would share though i know most of you audio guys know this.

How do you explain that bands playing in bars get so much better sounding as the night wears on?
