Welcome
I'm not sure I'm worthy of my Tire Warmer title...I'm very very clueless and it doesn't help that I don't have much time to get into mods and stuff like that. My friend Kenny, shop teacher at Adamson H.S in Dallas, told me that Miata's where great cars to start with and since I was looking for an inexpensive car to advertise the business, I bought this '92 with about 88,000 miles. It is solid and I love it.
Hopefully it will be the start of a beautiful relationship.

State Farm Agency. Thanks.
I love my first generation Miata. (Known around here as an NA.) I'm sure you will have a blast with yours.
Just one question for you, did you budget for sun screen?
Have fun.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Welcome! And yes, sun screen is a good "first mod". Cool paint job.
Welcome!

1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Restification in progress. or should I say De-RUSTification in progress?
1984 Honda VF1100S. V4 Fury!
You should autocross it. Just don't let your insurance agent know about it.
Would love to autocross. How do I get into that? What if the car breaks down? I wouldn't have a clue as to how to fix it or get it back home. Do most of you take a trailer just in case?
Being that I'm the agent...I'll keep the racing to my self...![]()
Just check the calender page and come to the next one you can work in. Miata's don't break down, shame on you for saying such a thing. No really, if you have a problem you will get lots of help. Can I get an amen?
Come out and ask lots of questions. The fun comes in sifting the 9 answers you get per question. Welcome.

There is always a chance your car could break down, but it is rare. Some people trailer their cars, so when this has happened in the past, someone with a trailer usually steps up to take you home... or wherever. As long as your car is maintained, the chances of breaking down at an AX are about the same (maybe a little more) than breaking down anywhere else. People at events tend to be very helpful.
Checkout the Autocross threads on this forum. This is a pretty good weekend because we have the BMW Car Blub of America hosting one in the Bus Parking Lot at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday and the Porsche Club of America hosting one in Lot F of the Rangers Stadium on Sunday. Pick your poison.
Also check the MME calendar.
Since you just picked up your car, you might want to attend a local get together and let someone give your car a quick look-over. You could show up early to an AX event and you will get plenty of help with your car setup and prep for autocross.
Your car will have to pass a technical inspection before they let you autocross it. They will check for wheel bearing slop, brake pedal feel, secured battery, throttle cable in good working order, etc. Basic safety stuff.
'92 with 88k, that's less than 5k a year! Have fun!

Will do. Thanks everyone for all the help. I'll try to make it this weekend, but probably just to watch and get to know you all. But, if not this weekend, we'll shoot for the next event in the DFW area.
