    Default $179 Fry's Lindow Box

I bought a cheapy Linux Lindows box from Fry's today just to see what it was about. I put a 512 ram stick in it and it seems to do pretty good. I have it three computers set up on one Keyboard Mouse and Video. I am using two KVM switches...

I am a geek. Anyone else her have a Linux box?

I also have my XBOX networked into my home network....

    Yay! I'm not alone!

I, too, have 3 boxes on a KVM... PS2, Xbox, Tivo and Audiotron all live on the network with the PCs.

    Frightening.

My Linux stuff is run on my Win2k work laptop under a VMware session.

    My home PC is Windows...

But I do have a Cisco CallManager IP Telephony server as well as a Unity Unified Messaging server... and a full blown CCIE study rack.

I have bought 4 of those computers when they have there big sale and got them for $99. Gave them all to family members that dont have computers. But added windows to them all before i did. they are pretty good computers for the price but no way good enough to be my main computer. and 128 megs of ram blows on xp.

btw. I would really like to learn more about networking my xbox if anyone here can help me. I just bought one a couple weeks ago (my third since they have been out) and i want to tinker with this one :).

Xbox-scene.com is a good place to start on networking/hacking/tinkering the xbox. I have a chip in mine that alllows you to mess with the box a little more. It basically allows you to override the xbox bios and put a custom one on there. The xbox's that they are selling now are version 1.6 and are a little more difficult to hack they require a bit more soldering on the motherboard, but it really isnt too bad...

    I've got you all beat!

I have an IBM NetFinity 4 processor server running linux.

it's a hunk-o'junque pentium pro 200mhz, but it's still fun to hack around on.

I'll see your 4 processor Netfinity and raise you a Pace MBT-250 soldering station with almost all of the surface mount soldering accessories and a Gould dual trace 100MHz Digital Storage Oscilloscope with integrated 4 pin plotter.
