Default Bye bye miata, hi 135i

Selling the car (don't email me for parts, it might not get stipped, if it dose there will be a post)

going to bmw dealer tomorrow to test drive a 135i then order a montego blue one if i like it. but before i even do the order any one have any suggestions for a nice sports car or sports coupe under 40gs and i don't mean 40gs base i mean 40gs loaded.

My sister-in-law got 135i in June, she paid a bit more than $40K, but I do believe she clicked almost every box you could click on the order form.

It's a damn nice car she got it in Black Sapphire Metallic with Coral Red Leather interior.

Get a 135i or used 335i. Go see Darrel Taylor a BMW of Dallas. He is involved in SCCA. I talked to him about a 135 and he seemed willing to work a deal. other dealers are more of the mindset that they are hot cars so pay sticker. Some 135s are already appearing in the used market. Not much of a discount.

What do you want for your Miata?

40K will not get you an even close to loaded 135i. 40K is pretty much base with leather, and sport package and that's about it. I think they can get up over 50K loaded. I would probably pick one up if they came down to low 30's for a basic one with sport/leather.

If I had the means I'd have a 135 as a daily with the Miata reserved for fun use only :)

    New or used?

    If used I would look at a 1995-1998 911 or a 97+ NSX.

Both of those cars wont shed 50% over the next five years.

    i'd blow it up

i can get the 135i 6speed i want delivered for $39,xxx. it will take about 2 months if i want one but there where no 6 speed sports to test only a auto stipped so it's a hard to chose.

i did see a mini works GP #1599 of 2000 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBZzE9jf9C8 and it's the only mini i ever looked at thinking i may like it but they want 1k down and all the paper work signed before i can test it and the 1k i don't get back if i don't like... bunch of crap, going to take a blank check from my back up there and tell them to let me drive it and fuck there 1k but we will see.

I know I'm gonna get ripped for this, but with that big turbo motor in that little body, an auto might not be so bad in the Bimmer. Don't they have a 6-speed Tiptronic-type setup? You get to keep your foot down and the boost up...

...of course, it's probably not as laggy as my old 745 auto...

it's a matching size twin with 3 exhaust ports per turbo to spool, there is no lag. even from a stop the boost kicked in a smoked the all seasonal

but i also found a STI i want to look at. no mater what i'm going to spend more then i want on an car i will not 100% enjoy, but it's mostly the meds fault =P

STi is not a daily driver kind of car. If you are looking for an only car, I'd reccommend looking elsewhere. Those things eat tires and brakes every 4-5k miles. As far as fuel economy...theheroofyou only got about 12-15 MPG in his, although this was with rediculously spirited driving.

    I highly disagree.

My 300whp WRX didn't eat tires every 4-5k miles...and I drove HARD. With regular rotations I could keep tires on it for 10k to 15k easily...which is about how long they're lasting on my Miata

Fuel economy is relative to horsepower and driving style in a big way. Some cars are more efficient than others, but if you want to get 23mpg out of an STi you can. That being said, I averaged about 18mpg in my WRX (again...300whp - nothing in the fuel system was stock) with an aggressive driving style.

I honestly can't think of many other cars that are better for daily driving than an STi if what you're looking for is reliable, inexpensive and potentially big power with all the practicality of a sedan.

Go with the R56 Mini. The new JCW Mini is not bad.
