It is unclear whether anyone returned fire. The members of the hunting party had only one gun among them.

Ya know, I'm not a hunter (at least not often) but among the 12-15 hunters there and only One gun between them as they confront an armed hunter who is poaching on their land. ...I'm thinking they just aren't too bright up North. Where I come from it's not a good idea to bring a knife to a gun fight, if you know what I mean.

It is very unfortunate this happened, however I'm not real supprised; at least no more supprised than I would be if I flipped my car at an autocross.
