Congrats, looks like we have a new CSP Miata story to hear 10 times now :) Good to see you made it home in 1 piece too.
Wow, what a weekend! First off I've gotta give a big thanks to Jimmy at Fuji-Racing. He trailored the IRTB Miata all the way to VIR from FL to let me run it. Secondly, the car was flawless over 2 practice sessions and 2 competition sessions equaling over 80 laps at the Patriot course at VIR.
For those that aren't familiar with the car here's the specs:
'95 Miata
ported and polished '99 head
Fuji Racing cams (not sure of the specs)
Fuji Racing IRTB kit
Fuji Racing chromoly flywheel with SPEC clutch
Fuji Racing header
Magnaflow high flow cat
custom exhaust (2" dia)
Koni Race shocks with coilover sleeves and Swift Spring (700 F/350R)
Racing beat sway bars front and rear
15x7.5 Rota slipstreams
205/50/15 Toyo R1Rs
This car dyno'd at 171 whp on a Dynojet at Titan Motorsports in Orlando and the weight is probably in the 1900-2000 lb range.
After the first day of competition I was sitting in 1st place (45.1 sec) in street RWD (street class was running the Patriot course while mod and unlimited were running the full course), but I was about 1.5 secs behind the top FWD and AWD drivers. These guys came prepared with cars all around the 400 whp mark and running as much tire as possible. The drivers were no slouches either with a couple of them being 3 time one lap of america drivers (both had class wins in one lap).
After running on Sat. I ran into WRXMR2eater in the paddock. We talked for a while and he gave me some tips about the track. I tried some different lines during practice Sunday morning and was finally getting used to the car. Big thanks to WRXMR2eater b/c I came out of the practice session with the fastest time of the morning (53.4). I just needed to back it up in competition later in the day.
I was gridded in the fastest run group for competition behind the 2 one lap drivers and with a 400 whp Evo behind me. The session went great with no mishaps other than me almost overtaking the driver in front of me. I came in to the hot pits and found that I had run a 52.9!!!
I took the RWD street win, the overall street win and a new Redline lap record for the Patriot course!
Pictures and video to come!

I figured you'd be driving jimmy's car at some point. I'm jealous. Congrats on the win.

Some nice drift cars showed up
Mazda was there in full force with 3 of their Cosworth roller throttle cars. The hood, front bumper and fenders were all a one piece carbon assembly. But guess what, Flyin' Miata couldn't get those roller throttles working and Mazda was having a ton of trouble with them. They were under the hoods of all three cars all weekend.
Some of the competition, both with around 400 HP to the ground
and of course, a few of the GT Live girls at the trophy ceremony
