Thread: My bike died

    Default My bike died

So, my bike (2005 Ninja 250R, 249cc with twin carbs) died on the road last weekend. It wouldn't restart, so I popped it up on the sidewalk, still wouldn't start. Called the tow truck, arranged that, got off the phone, and it then started

I thought about calling back to cancel, but screw it. What if I did and it stopped again two blocks away? So after talking with some friends and the Ninja club the most likely culprit is a marginally bad fuel filter (haven't checked yet, been lazy). So now we get to the heart of my question.

The bike came from Oklahoma, how much of Oklahoma uses E10 gas? I have a hunch that not much OK does, and that introducing E10 may have loosened some junk in the tank to clog the fuel filter.

Fuel filter is a good place to start........If that doesn't fix it pop the gas tank lid the next time it dies. The vent hose for the tank could be pinched shut somewhat and it would act just like a plugged filter. Or it could be your ignition box. The next time it dies you need to see if you have any spark, that would be quick and easy to do if you have a spare spark plug you could stick in your pocket. Electrics tend to die when hot and then sometimes will return to working when they cool off.

Believe it or not, but non-CA models of the EX-250F do not have an evaporative fuel system.
